Can we have option to send ML rejections back to community voting?

Since its introduction, Niantic’s ML model has done a great job at screening nominations and preventing a large number of “coal” or otherwise subjectively “bad” nominations from entering community voting. This, of course, creates a better reviewer experience and a faster turnaround time for submissions. The side effect, though, is now for many new users their first experience is people saying “we don’t understand why ML rejected your nomination, idk I guess try again and appeal.” Of course, it also is a struggle for many seasoned and experienced Wayfarer contributors. We do understand more options at appealing is hinted at in the Wayfarer Roadmap, but appeals still removes the community aspect of Wayfarer, local nuance, and deprives us of one of our chances at approval.

It is my personal opinion that ML rejections already handle a large enough rejection quantity and logging into Wayfarer to review your rejection is also a large enough barrier to entry that allowing a submitter the opportunity to send a ML rejected nomination back to the community would still have the desired effect of reducing “coal” volume in community voting to still keep turnaround time better than previously experienced. “Upgrades” or similar requirements could be put in place to continue reviewer participation and help ensure nominations are within criteria.

This request is to have that as an option for any ML rejection taken seriously and an implementation path looked at. Understood there may be certain types of screened rejections that should not be allowed back to the community, but this would greatly help create a more positive experience for many.

Further education models would also help as well as harsher punishment for abusers who see this to bypass ML. But the greater community who participates in good faith should be allowed to benefit and not be held back by abusers.
