Hello, I have automatic upgrade deactivated and my Profil states I got 3 upgrades available. When I uploaded a new pokestop suggestion yesterday I was not able since then to apply my upgrade like I used to when I used them back earlier with other stops. There I just had to click my suggestion and click on “upgrade” but the button is not available. Also the new suggestion is still in its first state so it should still be upgradable? Any help would be appreciated.
Hey @Kadossa ,
Could you please provide a screen recording of the issue for us to be able to investigate?
Thanks,
Hello @NianticAaron thanks a lot for your quick response. I attached a screenshot displaying my nomination and available upgrades. It’s German though hope you don’t mind. If I can provide further information please let me know. Would have liked to use my upgrade on it but it does not work how I remember it, as said, there is no button anywhere to see therefor.
On my last nomination it seemed that I was unable to Upgrade until after 24 hours.
I assumed this was an update so Upgrades would not be wasted if used before the AI (eMiLy) took a look?
Am I cracking up
or is that a possibility?
Google translate works for a lot of images as well; it does a decent translation on your images, just on the unlikely chance that Niantic don’t recognise the German phrases for the key narratives ![]()
It’s always OK to post onto the forums in whatever language you feel most comfortable using.
Has anybody had the same situation as I had, when uploaded it did not have the “Upgrade” button but after 24 hours it appeared?
I can upgrade my nomination now. 24 hours have passed but I also just received a fresh and new upgrade (the 4th) around the same minute. However it’s working now. Still don’t remember it behaving that way from before where I nearly could instantly hit the upgrade button once it showed up.
It has been common advice to hold off using the update for a good 24 hours so the AI, Machine Learning, eMiLy has had time to check.
If you have used the Upgrade then ML decides to Reject then you have lost the Upgrade without getting any use from it (it only sends it to a wider Reviewer audience).
I just assumed that it is an update they have done but not yet told us about it…
Hey @Kadossa ,
This is working as designed. You should be able to upgrade nominations after 24 hours of submitting them.
Best,
This is a nice update but would have expected this to have been announced?
Thanks for adding this! I have been advising people to wait anyway. This is a great update. Will bookmark this for answer to questions about “why can’t I upgrade my nomination” as they come up. An announcement would be a great idea!
Why is this the way it works? That’s stupid I worked hard to get the upgrade and should be able to use it right away so my stop can get reviewed as fast as possible. That’s what they’re for.
Hello and welcome @Starski63
The community had observed that submitted Wayspots would be held for approx 24 hours at which point the automatic system night reject it or if deemed ok it could pass to the review pool.
This period of time allowed a space for wayfinders to check and edit too.
Wayfinders were applying precious upgrades when they submitted only to find it was wasted a few hours later when the auto system rejected it.
By not allowing an upgrade to be applied until it has cleared tge auto system it stops those upgrades being wasted.
It does not slow down the resolution as the nomination still enters the review stream at the same point and the upgrade safely applied at that time.
Welcome to the forum @Starski63 .
Firstly, the 24 hour period where you can’t upgrade a nomination is so that the machine learning has a chance to look at it. You wouldn’t want to waste an upgrade on something only for it to get automatically rejected by the machine learning without actually going to any human reviewers.
Secondly, upgrades don’t quite work the way you seem to think that they do. They do not get your nomination into the voting phase any quicker than a nomination that’s not upgraded. What they do is show your nomination to a wider review pool once it is already in the voting phase, which should result in it reaching the required number of votes for a decision more quickly than if it wasn’t upgraded.
I think in some situations they might actually enter voting quicker because upgraded nominations aren’t affected by proximity blocks iirc?
