Change in frequency of Contribution Appeals - Discussion

Hello Explorers,

We have some exciting news regarding the Wayfarer Contribution Appeals process!

After careful consideration and listening to your valuable feedback, we have decided to increase the frequency at which you can submit appeals.

Effective immediately, you will now be able to submit 2 appeals every 15 days, rather than the previous 2 appeals every 20 days.

This change is a direct result of your input and our ongoing commitment to continually improve the Wayfarer experience. We understand that the timely resolution of nominations is important to you, and we believe this adjustment will help streamline the process for everyone.

We appreciate your continued dedication and passion for shaping our shared world. Your contributions are invaluable.

Thank you for being a vital part of the Wayfarer community!

Sincerely,
The Niantic Wayfarer Team

Nice. I have a few things on Hold that people may not take time to properly look for that I feel could get rejected.

I do wonder if Recon will have the same timescales or even if they’ll have Appeals.

Fantastic news

As someone who rarely uses their appeals, I can’t complain!

Still believe that appeals should be returned imediately once resolved especially for Accepts.

The problem with that idea is that some people would be able to appeal much more 2 times every 15 days, and it might be too much for the team.

Understood but I would have thought returning the appeal if accepted would have been better than reducing to 15 days.

Just always seemed wrong that if you get an incorrect decision, you appeal, Niantic accept appeal but you still have to wait for the return.

But thems the rules

I think instead of refunding you an appeal, which I think could lead to unappeals, that it should refund you one upgrade if your nomination was originally upgraded. That would be nice, but that is probably a pie in the sky dream.

Refunding appeals/upgrades could also lead to some trying to abuse the system. Again, some, so that’s something to keep in mind.

I don’t see how if you appeal and the appeal is succesful then you get the appeal back (ie, no waiting the 15 days) could be abused.

If you attempt an appeal which is not succesfull then you don’t get it back…

It is already standard procedure to refund upgrades after a succesful appeal (usually after 2 days)https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/t/if-scopely-wants-to-make-a-positive-change-to-pogo-they-need-to-either-radically-change-how-wayfarer-works-or-replace-it-entirely/93934/51?u=pokemaster4u2

The way I see it is…

Nominator: I believe the decision was incorrect.
Team: Yes, we agree.
Nominator: Can I have the appeal back as you agreed that I should not have needed to use it.
Team: No, although the error was not your fault you must wait.

Seems wrong to me but as stated above “Thems the rules”…

Not all, just those that were rejected by ML.

So, if you upgrade a nomination after the 24 hour period it takes ML to process, it gets rejected by the community but approved by the appeals team, you don’t get the upgrade back.

If you upgraded the nomination before the 24 hours that ML takes, ML rejects it, you appeal and it’s approved, then you’ll get your upgrade back. If ML passes your nomination onto staff review and it was upgraded before being passed on, staff reject initially but appeals approve, you get your upgrade back.

Context is important to provide, as not all upgrades are given back on a successful appeal.

Indeed, you are right.
