Community and senior center rejected

I nominated a town community and senior center. It is the type for social activity but it was still rejected. I appealed it but was still rejected. They said a senior center is not allowed per rejection criteria. I relooked at rejection criteria and don’t see senior center listed. Am I missing something?

We could advise better if you post the nomination here, but a senior center for active adults to go and exercise and be social should be eligible. A senior care center for nursing care would not be.

I have gotten both of those into game! I am sure we can sort out the issue post the submissions and we will get you sorted!

Hello and welcome @nanacinders

Could we see the nomination in full please.

I will declare a vested interest as I probably qualify to go to one of these and I plan on playing games :joy:

I do not know how to post it here.

I meant to share screenshots of the information in your nomination. My mistake for not being clear.

Okay I would definitely resubmit this.

I would take a straight on photo, probably of the sign, for the main photo. I can’t get at a good angle to show what I mean on street view, but something like this:

but clear and focused. [Edit: I do NOT mean use Street View for any photo ever. I just tried to mock up how I would take a photo.] I think the supporting photo is good the way you did it.

I would tweak your text a little. Feel free to copy this in whole or part:

The Pearson Road Community & Senior Center

Town facility encouraging activity and social engagement with a special emphasis on seniors.

This community and senior center hosts a variety of activities for senior citizens as well as the town in general. They have a function hall that can be rented for events and they also coordinate the local meals-on-wheels program. Please see CAPBM | Senior Centers for more information.

Thank you. Oddly enough, I just got an email saying it has now been accepted. I thought after rejection of the appeal I was done.

Staff does look at the forum, and will sometimes quietly do a correction. Thank you for letting us know. This made my day!

If this place doesn’t host a special event every year for the public and have an internet site for it, where we can get informations of it, I would still reject it as generic business - because everything is for rent. The rooms, the event hall. If the house itself tells a story, give it to us as an additional information.

Slightly different suggestion - I wouldn’t include “The” in the title.

a man is standing in front of a sign that says drop the " just facebook " it 's cleaner

A community centre isnt a generic business, its a place to socialise, sometimes exercise too

But not this one.

If you have the option to mark this solved, I would use it since people are missing that it has been approved now.

Great point! I was trying to keep their title with my suggestion since I couldn’t really read the sign. Some folks are really insistent about the “The” XD

Lol, I have a friend who works in their system. And a coworker who used to live around that area, so she’s a fan. I like to pronounce “the” incorrectly to hear fans of that place correct me. They never fail to do so - “thuh” vs “thee”.
