Converting a changed Playground wayspot

There’s a playground in a park near where I live. The playground wayspot is this one: “Deano The Friendly Dino” (the piece of equipment in question was climbing bars shaped like a dinosaur). That wayspot was the only one for the playground, although was not titled as such.

This year, the entire playground was ripped out and replaced with new equipment in the same location. Google satellite still shows the old playground equipment.

I need to know the proceedure for this case:
Should I convert this via edits (New title to: X park playground, description to match said playground)? Or, should I report the wayspot as removed and re-nominate?

I know when a mural is replaced by another mural, we’re supposed to update to the new mural. I also know that if a restaurant, or store is replaced by another restaurant or store, we’re supposed to report as removed and re-nominate. So, I’m trying to get some clarity on how to proceed.

The mural thing has it more that the space reserved to the mural doesn’t change, it’s just the paintings themselves.

But I think that’s the only of such cases where they allow it, in a case like yours where the space is the same, the function is the same but the space ends up looking and shaped very different from before, they’d want to remove + new submit.

Maybe @NianticAaron or someone else from the staff can give a quick confirmation which method to go for.

@balticalling If it was me visiting the location and I couldn’t find the item in the portal photo and I looked around for it and still couldn’t find it (and probably I’d look like I’d just lost my marbles at the same time to anyone nearby) then as an Ingress Player I would 1) check it’s still live (which you have done via the link) 2) open Pokémon Go to see what it is eg…Gym,Pokestop etc then 3) decide which option is suitable under the portal report page mostly in this case it would be "permanently removed from location

This then generates the report via email and then it’s at niantic’s mercy as we can’t send any other feedback than than until it gets rejected then it’s a new post on here under Wayspot Appeals with the rejection email.

You can take a photo as clear as possible and the safe area around the new playground area for your supporting info and equipment in the instance that “deano” does get retired after his long tenure of playground guardian ready for the playgrounds rebirth.

But that’s my process anyways.

You can submit the playground before removing if you want to ensure that an item stays there

If it gets added as a duplicate then you have your answer

Then when you edit to match the new picture you can get a helpful ban warning for repurposing

In all seriousness this is why we need an edit guide published so we know what the wayfarer team want!
