Repainted Murals: Edit or Report as Removed?

I’ve found a large number of wayspots that need to be updated, but I’m not sure how to proceed. The photos show a series of mural-type wayspots along a riverside wall. Since the original murals have faded over time, the local government has completely repainted all the murals facing the road.

The first one: 27.316303,120.219883

The last one: 27.309718,120.231273

Should I upload new photos and update the titles one by one (since the titles were based on the original mural content, which has now changed), or should I report these wayspots as no longer existing and then submit new wayspot nominations?

Afaik, Wayfarer dont allow repurposing. You need to report them for removal and resubmit. But that means gym or show case will be gone.

If you are talking about ingress, ingress ald split with wayfarer and need go go from recon

This is actually a case where you can edit the Wayspot. If the mural has changed but the Wayspot is in the same place, you can submit edits to reflect the new mural.

Besides, your example isn’t that much of a change. It seems like it got a fresh coat of paint, and some aquatic life was added. Now, if the mural had completely changed what it looked like, that would be a complete redoing of the mural, and you could still submit edits to reflect the new image.

The main issue with repurposing is if the type of Wayspot has completely changed. This mainly applies to business, like if a local Mexican restaurant had a Wayspot, closed, and a new Greek restaurant opened in its place. You can’t edit the Wayspot for the Mexican restaurant to be for the Green restaurant, so you’d have to get the old Wayspot removed, then submit a new one for the Greek restaurant.

People still use the Ingress Intel map to look up Wayspots that were in the system before the split. I do it all the time for older Wayspots, or those that did sync before the split.
