Its basically a place for the residents of this estate to sit down, have a chat with people do whatever as its mostly flats so its like there garden. But it’s not restricted to the residents of the estate as theres no locked gates and no sign saying private residents only, so its basically a simple public garden/communal garden with a couple of trees, plants, hedges, one bench and a path leading to it.
Personally I would Reject, I do not see these as anything but a bit of landscape that fills in a gap between the houses.
I see nothing that makes this a Great place to socialise, exercise or explore. Before you make the statement I am aware that all of these “could” happen here but I do not see it as a Great place or a place that was created for any of those purposes.
Just to confirm, this is just my opinion, others may differ.
If you believe it is a Great place for the big three criteria and you can show that then go for it.
I am not seeing whole picture but i lean towards accept. The garden have bench so i think it worth a shot . It looks like place where people sit and enjoy the evening.
A “community garden” is a place divided into grids, and different people/families adopt each grid, to grow vegetables and/or flowers. It is a great place to be social because when you go to weed or pick from your plot, you bump into neighbors who are there to work on theirs. People share fertilizer, harvests, etc. It’s gardened BY the community - typically not where others are paid to landscape FOR the community.
Focusing on the area with the bench has potential. The message above about a “community garden” is not relevant, as you are not attempting to claim this is an space where people grow vegetables etc.
This is not a concern to the eligibility of the location. I have been leaving this to others to discuss who are from that part of the world. But locations in common spaces of restricted neighborhoods are still eligible.
You may not want to use the term “communal garden” so that no one misunderstands what kind of garden you are talking about.
Agree with this! A friend likes to use “Conversation Corner” for an arrangement of benches. Or whatever sounds good to you. Maybe “Community Seating” or “Community Spot”? Possibly even “Mini Park” would work with the supporting photo showing the rest of the area with the walkway through it.
Admission: I did not see the bench…
Still not sure I would be convinced with just the 1 bench, would probably change to Skip and let others decide.
In the UK we’d call what you’re describing an allotment so it doesnt read as confusing to me.
I would vote positively on this. Its clearly a landscaped area designed for the community to use, the bench indicates social stuff, and I think its a nice place to explore. Green space is so important in estates and I think this is a nice find
I’d need a main picture that focuses on the area inside the circular hedge and clearly shows the bench. Then depending on the rest of the nomination, I’d be likely to vote for it.
Thank you for the help everyone. I’ll nominate it whenever I get around to doing it
I hope it goes well! ![]()
