Is there any way to tell Niantic the Giant Cross has been removed so stop asking me to scan it, lol? Thanks in advance.
Yes, and welcome @WonderWomanJNT !
You can report for removal in game. That works well if it is clear on Maps that it isn’t there. If it is not clear in game I would recommend one of the forms linked at the top here instead so you can attach a photo:
I prefer the Reporting Abuse one, as I find it easier to use, but the Property Owner one works, too. Just don’t reply to the automated email asking for proof you are the property owner.
Hello,
Is this a field research task to scan a stop/gym? If that’s the case, you can delete it (upper right corner of research task), and will later be replaced by another stop/gym to scan for AR mapping. If this is the case, it’s more of a PoGo issue than Wayfarer.
Oh if the question is how to stop getting the task instead of how to get rid of the Pokestop, just pick up a task and never do it. You can still hold three field research tasks underneath it. It won’t keep giving you scan tasks if you are holding one, and you will get the other research when you spin stops. I always hold one, and my eyes just treat it like a heading now XD
I do the exact same thing, as I don’t do much AR scanning. I’ve had the same gym to scan as my AR mapping task for a few years now.
It’s not clear if the user needs to request removal, being the cross doesn’t exist anymore, or if they no longer want to have the AR mapping task listed. Could even be both.
I’ve scanned whatever is there. An empty concrete pedestal, spot of grass, blank wall. It’s a way to demonstrate that it’s not there - No matter what old streetview shows.
But scans don’t contribute to wayspots being removed. We’ve already been told this on the old forum.
Maybe they do now. In my experience, they do.
But if not: Not our problem if they don’t use their own resources. “You can lead horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.”
I know at least a couple of people who no longer can get scan tasks because of doing “low quality scans,” so I would be hesitant to recommend for people who want to get the tasks to scan something besides what the wayspot is for. Even if it is the right GPS coordinates.
