I would like to report a data synchronization issue between Campfire and Pokemon GO that appears to be preventing gym promotion.
Issue Summary:
A Wayspot is showing as a Gym in Campfire but as a Pokestop in Pokemon GO. This data inconsistency may be preventing the L14 S2 cell from creating the correct number of gyms based on Wayspot count.
Status in Pokemon GO: Pokestop (demoted from gym due to sponsored gym rotation after 6 months)
Status in Campfire: Still showing as Gym (demotion not reflected)
L14 S2 cell status:
L14 Cell ID: 60188d75
Total Wayspots in cell: 30+ (meets the 20+ threshold for 3 gyms)
Current gyms in Pokemon GO: 2
Expected gyms based on Wayspot count: 3
Gyms showing in Campfire: 3 (including the demoted Komeda Coffee)
Expected behavior:
When an L14 S2 cell has 20+ Wayspots, it should have 3 gyms. The cell currently has 30+ Wayspots but only 2 gyms in Pokemon GO, suggesting that one Pokestop should be promoted to a gym.
Hypothesis:
The gym promotion system may be referencing Campfire data, which still shows 3 gyms in the cell (including the demoted sponsored gym). This could prevent the system from recognizing that a promotion is needed, even though Pokemon GO actually only has 2 gyms in the cell.
Could you please investigate this data synchronization issue between Campfire and Pokemon GO? It appears that sponsored gym demotions are not being reflected in Campfire, which may be affecting gym promotion logic.
Campfire shows gyms that have hosted raids. It will eventually drop off of Campfire if there are not actually raids going on. I think it takes a couple of weeks. I would not use what Campfire is showing as any evidence of what is going on behind the scenes.
Thank you for clarifying the stance on third-party information and density rules. I understand that my previous hypothesis based on those rules was not applicable.
However, I would like to report a visual inconsistency between Niantic’s official apps, which exists regardless of the density rules.
As shown in the attached screenshot from Campfire (taken today), the location “Komeda Coffee Shop Otsuka Minamiguchi” is clearly displayed as a Gym. However, in Pokémon GO, this location currently functions as a PokéStop.
Issue:
Campfire: Shows Gym icon (Incorrect status)
Pokémon GO: Shows PokéStop (Correct status)
This discrepancy is confusing for players who rely on Campfire to locate Gyms. Could you please investigate why the Campfire database has not synchronized with the current status in Pokémon GO? This appears to be a display bug or a data sync error.
Hi and welcome! For clarity, this here is the Wayfarer forum, and it is unlikely that support or investigation related to Campfire will be provided here. As @cyndiepooh told you above Campfire is sometimes very slow to update. But this is purely community observation. If you have suggestions or issues related to Campfire, I would suggest contacting their support.
Thank you everyone for your time and for sharing your insights.
@cyndiepooh , thanks to you for being the first to respond and explaining how Campfire handles gym data.
@NianticAaron , thank you for the clarification. I understand that this is outside the scope of the Wayfarer team. I will follow your advice and reach out to Campfire support directly.
@Xenopus and @hankwolfman , thank you for the additional information regarding the update frequency.
I hope to get this data mismatch resolved through the proper channels. Best regards!
Nice to meet you.
I looked into it, and it seems there are already three gyms in the target zone.
大塚駅高架下の壁画 / 35.731152,139.730039 (Wayspot)
都電6162号 / 35.727765,139.731085 (Wayspot)
ファミリーマート大塚駅南口店 / 35.730615,139.729609 (Sponsor)
Mural Wayspot Gym is located very close to the zone boundary, so it may appear to be in the northern zone, but it is actually within the southern zone. Additionally, FamilyMart’s sponsored gym is also counted as a condition when determining promotion to a Gym.
