Gym reverted to PokéStop despite maintaining 20 Wayspots in L14 cell

After the number of Wayspots in my Level 14 S2 cell reached 20, the PokéStop “パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園)” was promoted to a Gym.

However, despite the total number of Wayspots in the Level 14 cell remaining at 20 and not decreasing, the Gym was reverted back into a PokéStop a few days later, and a different PokéStop was promoted to a Gym instead.

During this period, inconsistent synchronization was observed between Pokémon GO, Campfire, and Wayfarer:

  • Campfire continued to display the old Gym “浅香山公園 南入口” as a Gym
  • Wayfarer displayed “パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園)” as a Gym
  • Pokémon GO displayed “パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園)” as a PokéStop

Because of this, it appeared that synchronization between services was inconsistent.

What I would like clarification on is not the fact that another PokéStop eventually became a Gym, but rather:

Why was a Wayspot that had already been promoted to a Gym later reverted back into a PokéStop despite the cell still maintaining 20 Wayspots?

Was this intended behavior due to internal recalculation, or was it a synchronization issue / bug?

From a player perspective, it is extremely confusing and feels unfair for a Gym promotion to be reversed after already appearing live in Pokémon GO.

If a clear explanation cannot be provided, I would also appreciate consideration of restoring either the former Gym “浅香山公園 南入口” or the previously promoted Gym “パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園)”.

That feel weird. The only way that i know possible is if property owner request the gym to be downgraded to pokestop. Consequently another pokestop will be promoted to gym. But to be sure, you need to wait answer from wayfarer staff

Is it actually the same stop, or was the gym stop deleted and replaced by another stop in the same place? Because that would cause the recalculation and the new stop is highly unlikely to be the one chosen.

I think I’m missing something. The way you explained it makes me wonder if the gym changed twice.

I assume something was deleted, which caused 浅香山公園 南入口 to be downgraded. Then after you submitted another PokéStop, パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園) became a gym. But later that gym was also downgraded back into a PokéStop, and somehow another PokéStop was upgraded into a gym?

So currently:

  1. Old gym: 浅香山公園 南入口 → now PokéStop
  2. Previously promoted gym: パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園) → now PokéStop
  3. ??? → new gym?

Campfire can be delayed sometimes, so don’t worry too much about that. Also, Wayfarer can’t really help much here because it’s handled by a different company/system.

Anyway in this scenario, gym creation is random. There is nothing you can do.

It appears there were four Gyms within the Level 14 S2 cell in question.

カバとサイと滑り台
与謝野晶子歌碑 浅香山緑道
浅香山公園 南入口
パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園)

I think that one of them, “パラレルハンガー(浅香山公園),” was reverted from a Gym to a PokéStop after its location was edited.

Hey @tenpo1117 ,

Thanks for writing in.

We have removed the Gyms from Asakayama Park (浅香山公園) at the request of the property owner.

Thanks,

I contacted the property owner regarding this matter, and I was informed that no such request to remove or downgrade the Gyms was made.

Recently, there has been a player repeatedly harassing and targeting these Gyms in the area. Because of this, I am concerned that a false or fraudulent request may have been submitted by a third party pretending to represent the property owner.

If the Gym removal was based on an incorrect or unauthorized request, I would like to request that the Gyms be restored.

I kindly ask that this matter be investigated carefully and thoroughly.

Thank you.

This information is not accurate. I can confirm that we have made these changes on the request of the property owner.

It was not.

If you’re indeed in touch with the property owner, please encourage them to reach out to us directly through our help center and we will be happy to collaborate with them to address any concerns/requests they may have.
