Denial for being a non-permanent statue... it's a statue. I promise it's permanent. Can someone explain the reasoning?

Its still submitter responsibility. And niantic stance regarding small object like this is clear…read below

Should the size of a nomination be taken into account?

Yes, a good Wayspot nomination should be relatively easy to locate in person. If a Wayspot is too small, it may be difficult to verify its real-world location. If you come across a high-quality nomination that’s small in size, we recommend you use the supporting photo and description to provide more context on the nomination’s location.

Its submitter job to provide more context to convince reviewer.

I’m sorry to hear it got rejected again. If you are able to put it through appeal, hopefully it should get approved. If Niantic reject it, try appealing the rejection appeal on here. Not guaranteed to get accepted, but it’s a shame it got rejected again.

I swear I could give the reviewer the equivalent of the Library of Alexandria in terms of information about this frog statue and I’ll still get people like yourself saying it doesn’t matter. You could always give more.

I have proven factually with video evidence, reputable .org websites, comprehensive street view backlogs, that this frog exists and is an art piece. Yet it isn’t enough. At what point do you say the person submitting has done enough to prove its existence? What more could I add??

I’ll keep you posted. I also linked Niantic appeals this forum in the notes and mentioned the video that was taken. Hopefully that will help.

I didnt see the review so i can only comment based on what i saw here. Personally i like the frogs. And its enough evidence for me. But the people who reject it might see it differently. Since they are not reviewing it as through as me

If you have provided all the evidence in the description and supporting info, you don’t need to justify it further to the reviewer. When it comes to the appeal, as long as the character count allows, you can post the link to this thread, which has the video to show it exists, plus any additional information that you may think will help with the appeal.

Yep, so the appeal was submitted right before I made this update post. This is what it said:

"The POI is located on a public sidewalk. It is a unique art piece. It is in an area that is great for exploring. Here is a link to the art program that installed the frogs: https://16frogs.org/

I also posted a video of me proving it’s real on a Niantic wayfarer community post. Here is that link if you’d like further evidence: Denial for being a non-permanent statue... it's a statue. I promise it's permanent. Can someone explain the reasoning? - #38 by Botany99"

So it is very similar to the last time I appealed this POI just with the added info of this forum post + the link to the “16 Frogs” website. If that isn’t enough… I give up.

Don’t give up if it gets rejected through the formal appeal process. You may be able to appeal it here.

Yeah. Dont give up. This one worth fighting.

Update: The second appeal has officially been declined. Ugh! Any help dissecting why Niantic thought my post was again inadequate will be greatly useful to me. Maybe understanding their decision will allow me to make better posts in the future, or maybe we can all be confused together. I already provided my Appeal Notes but I will provide all other information. Even though the info is very similar to the first time I did this, might as well be thorough. Who is ready for round 2!?! WOOO

Niantic Note:
Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The nomination in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as it is a normal decorative item. If this assessment is not accurate, please resubmit the nomination with additional context. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria and Forum Criteria Discussions Library sections before submitting your next Wayspot contribution: Wayfarer — Niantic Technical Support and Help Center and Forum Criteria Discussions Library — Wayfarer Help Center

Reviewers provided these top reasons for not accepting this submission:

  • The submission lacks uniqueness or historical and cultural meaning

Description:
Keister is a bronze frog statue, one of 16 scattered around Blacksburg to honor the freshwater streams running beneath the town. Named after the Keister family, whose farm once stood here in the 1800s, this statue marks the history of the land and the hidden creek still flowing underground. A QR code nearby provides more historical context about the town’s water system and the Keister family’s legacy.

Supplemental Information:
This statue is positioned right next to a public sidewalk, making it easily accessible for pedestrians. Its placement makes it a great spot for local exploration and learning about the town’s hidden waterways. Although the statue is small there are resources explaining its significance. This .org website is the same found on the QR code: https://16frogs.org More info about the history of the frog statue can be found here including the exact location of keister, so reviewers can confirm that it is indeed in the right location and is permanent.

If the submitter provided a link showing that the frog statur is an art piece, thats enough. Size doesnt matter if you cam prove it exists and is where it is.

Hard to say. It seems niantic is not convinced. If appeal dont work, your option is try again through community review. Personally i am ald convinced.

I hope the Niantic staff here are able to review the appeal and overturn the appeal rejection.
