Hey,
I don’t think its surprising to anyone if I say there are some lazy submissions that make it in the database. As a art consumer and someone who believes artists should be properly credited, I try my best to create informative POIs or update them giving their official title and interesting information a curious person might enjoy reading.
While editing existing POIs, I stumbled upon a problem: Machine Learning takes my edits and rejects them. From my understanding, art sculptures often are named after random words, concepts or sayings. I’m also in Quebec, where half the wayspots are in French and half are in English. Therefore, to Emily, “metallic sculpture” is more accurate than whatever french word the artist used for their title. Since Emily takes them, the community can’t vote on them. I don’t think appeals are the solution, with two appeals a month I won’t be done for 10 years, but that didn’t stop me from trying. To my surprise, they are no help since the reviewers reject the official titles (even when a source is provided ).
I guess this post is made to see if I can have some rejections overturned and to shed light to this issue. I noticed the problem happens mostly for art pieces but is not limited to them. I’ll be listing the rejections I feel like were unfair so you can see for yourself. Thank you
