Does a religious building qualify as eligible waystop?

I m a player from India and we have lots of religious buildings around the area such as mosques , churches , temple etc.

I wanted to know when nominating those structures do we have to submit the photo of the name sign or the building/shrine itself? And if those nominations are even eligible or not

I think both name sign and building is eligible.

Religious buildings are eligible, as they may be a place of exploration, as well as places to possibly socialize with others. The Eligibility Criteria does list public places of worship as an example of a great place to explore.

I would try to take a photo of the building itself for the main photo over the sign, especially if the sign isn’t in the same location as the building. While some may see both the building and sign as being eligible, others only see the building, so it’s best to nominate that over the sign. If the sign is on the building, you can certainly include it in the photo.

Hello,
When submitting you are looking for something interesting to submit.
Typically in the case of a religious building or shrine it is the physical building that is of interest.
Sometimes it is not clear what the place is and a sign can help clarify. The sign is typically not the place of interest.
What is often helpful is for the main photo to be of the religious building and the supplementary to contain a wider view that may contain a sign.
The pin location should be placed on the building or shrine as that is the point of interest.

A church and its sign are specifically given as an example of something that should NOT be accepted separately: Niantic Wayfarer

Should the sign for a Wayspot nomination be marked as a duplicate if there is already a Wayspot for the object the sign represents?

If the sign is a significant distance from the object then it should be considered on its own. If it is close, such as with a church sign and a nearby church building, then it should be marked as a duplicate.
