Does anyone feel like you are working for free?

They are saying reviewers should have to go to the nomination they are reviewing in-person to review, not from a computer or phone. That’s impractical, for several reasons.

Yup, I saw on YouTube about the hard times some people are going through in those areas  but here everthing is alright now luckily, if we had the (lucky) chance to post or even review a place, we should be able to go back again and comfirm it is a rightful nomination.

I would love a “Wayfarer” t-shirt for my Pokemon Go avatar tbh. Even though I hate the new avatars.

Way back in 2015 Ingress players begged niantic to implement a system like this because the previous method of review took so long. Funny how things change. I enjoy reviewing, I’m aware it’s a sort of free labor and I’m ok with what benefits i receive from it.

I enjoy it, too! It just feels like a job sometimes without any enjoyable thing back to us but the “upgrade” feature which feels like a reward given by us players and not the company behind this game.

That’s why it’s up to the submitter to prove in the info they provide that the POI exists. I see so many supporting photos that do not include the POI in it, and what is supposed to be done is include the POI and the surrounding area in the supporting photo. They also need to provide supporting info as to why their nomination meets criteria and should be a Wayspot.

Yes, not all submitters do this, and sometimes as a reviewer, I do have to take extra steps to verify that the nomination exists. Sometimes I have to drive deeper in Google Maps, do a web search, do a reverse image search to make sure the main photo isn’t 3rd party, etc, to fully make my decision while reviewing.

Niantic has already taken a good step in the new landing page for the Wayfarer website, pointing people to the help pages and forums, and they have said that they are working on a step-by-step guide on how to nominate, too.

Don’t get me started on the paid ticketed stuff. I’m just grateful for Google Pay rewards that gives me money off when I am baited into buying the paid ticket. But I suspect that some of the ticketed events (egg-pedition is being one of them) is a prelude to a subscription model which will include other things such as premium and remote raid passes (including increased remote raid limits)… but I really don’t know if that will be the case.

I didn’t mean it in that sense, but thanks for your input

I find myself at the point of “omitting” cause I can not really tell of it is real or made-up.

What’s your native language? Maybe I can help with the translation.

In-person reviewing isn’t impractical at all, it would likely take significant effort to implement but it’s far from impractical.

Niantic has several games that require your location to be reported. They could send you a notification that there is a nomination in voting near you, you would click that notification and it would open the Wayfarer review page where you could review the nomination in real-time, at the location.

I had this thought when they first launched the Wayfarer app, I even mentioned it to the Wayfarer team when @BlameJamal and I met with them in New York. Sadly the Wayfarer app is dead, but they have a replacement that could be used. They could even ask you to scan the Point of Interest and use eMiLy to confirm its existence. (Purely optional of course)

There are real possibilities here.

I still think it would be practical. If you want a big game running true to its roots it would be.

This is a really cool idea. I would really enjoy that as an additional way to review.

lol i didn’t think this was a translation issue, just didn’t under stand what you meant by

I think credibility should be a nice reward. Like having people rewiew places in our places in person would be a nice mission to accomplish.

Then fwiw, I speak English, but with a Southern USA accent and idioms.

That’s totally valid. Every accent is welcomed.

Yes. I do.

But… it keeps the game running and I enjoy playing the game. For me, contributing in this way is part of playing the game.

Besides, I’m not obligated to participate here or with my submissions. I keep that in mind. I promise I do. Pretty much daily around here I debate with myself about whether I want to continue participating.

You are entitled to participate any way you like. I just think sharing your ideas and nominations is a way to understand what the greater community thinks and get ideas of how you can get better and improve.

Um… sure?

I don’t understand to what you’re responding here.
