Does Skipping a Nomination affect your Rating?

For a couple of months im on a great rating then the challenge began ive gone done to Poor Rating now im having a bad time getting out of that rating most of the time i click skip on some nominations. Does it affect my rating?

Not that I know of.

I skipped a lot of Japanese noticeboards and German trail/cycle routes during the recent challenge and I didn’t drop from Great.

I am having same issue. I went from Great to poor. I wondering why?!?!? I did skipping too. I stopped reviewing.

The issue of many reports of rating drops has been raised.
I recall on the old forum confirmation that skipping doesn’t affect rating.

Same issue from Great, all the way to poor.

I was just about to create a new thread about this. So can someone from niantic confirm or deny that skipping while reviewing nominations negatively affects our wayfarer rating? From what I see, it definitely does. Thanks

Here is an explanation of how rating is determined from Aaron:

I skip or let time out a LOT and my rating remains “Great”

(oops. sorry if i just pinged someone linking that)

This neither confirms nor denies what has been asked.

Um.

A skip is neither of those.

I hope that you do get the exact confirmation wording you are looking for though.

Anyone who has done reviewing understands that this system is based on agreements and disagreements and everyone knows that these 2 things affect ratings - this is a fact and that is how this whole thing should work, but this is niantic we are talking about. So, the question that has been asked - does skipping affect the rating still stands unanswered. Neither you, nor that Aron fella answered that. All you and him did was to confirm the agreements and disagreements bit and no “ums” are needed here.

You may need to settle for that answer.

All the community members can give you is anecdotal evidence from what we have observed. I’ll say I have found what @cyndiepooh says is meets my experience - skips don’t hurt my review ratings.

And the article she linked, to my knowledge, is the extent of what Niantic has shared on the issue.

So my advice is to continue reviewing and use skips. But at this point it’s up to you!

I agree fully. And I can add my experience that I often skip probably half a dozen nominations or more each time I review. I usually skip because either I can’t find the way spot, but I don’t wanna vote against it because I think it might be there. I’ll leave it to someone with more familiarity with the area. Or, I’ve just had my fill of neighborhood signs and little free libraries in people’s front yards for the day. It’s never affected my rating.

I also use the skip, and haven’t seen my rating go below Great.

With AI taking the obvious yes/no, that leaves us with a lot in the middle (plus 20% randomly chosen).

Sometimes I tell Niantic what/why by selecting idk on several things. Other times, I think the research needed is just more than I can give right now, so skip.

Some sessions, I just skip a lot.
