Does this look like abuse?

Just had this edit request. It’s either the most pointless location edit ever…. Or it’s very slightly in the wrong S2 cell and someone needs it moving - and therefore abuse. What would you do on this?

I would pick 1 and move on. I dont think its abusive, the edit is so small its likely still on the item, so I dont see it as being any issue

Then you do have to wonder what the point of the edit was!

I have to ask that about many of the edits I do :laughing::laughing:

Yesterday I had to review whether there should be a full stop or a comma.

Also, in another review, should it be a - or a :

The editing of punctuation etc I do kind of get, because it would infuriate me too! But to go to the effort of making a request to move it slightly forwards just looks to me like they were trying to move its cell location to trigger a pokestop to appear.

Not as pointless as the punctuation maybe or the tiny move but… they’re basically the same.

I like edits but I was trying to find moroccan reviews, and there just arent any. So instead, endless trail markers/footpaths, and these.

Ugh! I feel your pain. I DREAD seeing the word edit at the top of the screen!

Anyway, thanks for your advice and input as always!

Hi @SweetnSassy37 and @frealafgb
I mean @cyndiepooh mentioned this from time to time, that that could be edits from the time before we have them on contribution page.
The submitter forget about, or another submitter did the same :woman_shrugging:t2:

That true! I try not to hold it against people too much😆

Yes, maybe it’s an act of despair :smiling_face_with_tear:

This seems the most logical assumption! Thank you. Typically it has timed out now, but it will help me when others (inevitably) come up.

There will be more :grimacing:
Many more

Hopefully across the next few months theyll all get cleared out though, if they are old edits?

There are tools that show the original position of the Wayspot and one that puts a weird little grid over the map image.

I’ve found it makes it a lot easier when choosing a location.

A few reviews later…

I just check the “unable to find …” box on ones like these where neither is clearer. I think that still gets the edit decided.

Presumably that means no change gets made?

That is what I think happens - the edit is rejected if reviewed by enough people but not accepted. Of course, we will probably never know.

Whilst those aren’t my edits, I have done plenty of edits to postboxes lately (wrong monarch, poorly named) so there’s more to come. :postbox:

Oh I don’t mind edits where they actually improve things, I just thought this particular one was pedantic and didnt add anything

When you request via helpchat that a wayspot be moved, they don’t clear out any pending location edit requests that may exist for that wayspot. So if you had an ingress player come along and notice that the pin was about 20m off and submitted a location edit in game, and then a pogo player came along later and tried to submit the request in game but couldn’t because it’s >10m and then asked help chat to move it, odds are that the help chat person chooses a slightly different location than the ingress player did and this is the result.

I get how odd it can seem to see these and I have been the person who forgot they submitted something. This was mostly pre-contribution page update.
Just for giggles…
I have had this wayspot edit location come up in review many times. Each time it came by more options to select would be there. Each time in the past and even this time I selected unable to locate… why?! Because none of those are accurate.

I just think it is quite funny because none of those are even on the correct spot
I gave up and connected with help chat since you can see it on streetview.
There is a little black dot above the road name Sherlock Ln… the part of the dried lawn that is not covered by trees. That is the actual plaque.
I cannot edit it myself since it is not near me.
Happy to connect with help chat and they fixed it up! Hopefully I do not have to see this location edit again.
