One way is using Intel Ingress, which requires an Ingress account. This guarantees the location of the Ingress portals is correct. There are player-derived pogo maps available, where the cells are accurate but the location of existing wayspots are not necessarily accurate.
Just so you know… there’s no escape! I’ve tried, but have always come back. This is the only Asylum… I mean community to be in!
Thanks for letting me know about that! ![]()
I play Ingress as well, so I can use both!
Thanks for the info!
I am resigned to my fate ![]()
Another approach on this matter is whether you want powerspot or pokestop/gym. If you submit in A, you will get pokestop/gym. If you submit in B, you probably will get powerspot. But its observed that B and D need to be at least 22m in order for B to appear as powerspot.
Good to know! Thank you so much!
Just a few comments regards pogo map info, I am also a user but…
- The data is user generated, therefore many areas are very out of date.
- You have to select which S2 Level cells to show. 14 & 17 are the ones for stops / gyms.
- Some people have stated that the cells are not accurate, the creator has stated that the satellite map is not 100% accurate with S2 Cells but using “Open Street Map” is accurate.
- If you are wanting to study the map to see where there are empty cells you are likely going to have to update the map adding the missing waypoints first.
This is good info, thank you!
I have never used pogomaps, but I have been told that the cell lines aren’t always accurate. Just to let you know. And the wayspots that are on there are added by users, so there can be error that way as well.
Thanks for sharing that! All of the waystops I submitted today are for POIs that are at very specific points on the map, so I wouldn’t have referenced S2 cells for those anyway, but there is a basketball court and a pickleball court also in the process of being built, so when those are finished I’ll submit them as waystops as well, and I might take a peek at the map to decide where to place the waystops for those POIs since they take up more space, and the basketball court does appear to be split down the middle by an S2 cell border. Hopefully it’s accurate, but it’s not a big deal to me if it isn’t, I’ll just be happy to have more waystops regardless. ![]()
An exciting update! ![]()
My first two waystops have been approved and have appeared in-game!
I have many more waiting in the queue to be considered, and I’m so eager to see what happens with them!
I love seeing the changes on my map! Pic 1: Before the sync, Pic 2: now! ![]()
So excited to see the rest of the waystops pop up and make that walking trail a prime PoGo destination! ![]()
That looks like a great change and I wish you good luck with your other spots that you are waiting on.
As a sidenote, I did see a spelling error in your second photo with the word “Statuon”. You can do a edit on the description to fix this easily.
Congrats
Ope, I totally missed that!
Thanks for letting me know! Fixing it ASAP! ![]()
Two more waystops were approved today and I have a couple more in voting, a couple more in the queue! This is so neat! ![]()
Also, this morning I saw someone put a lure in one of the new spots I submitted! That made me so happy! ![]()
Also, the Picklelall and Basketball courts at the newly renovated park are almost finished, as well as a restoration of an iconic functional art piece! I’m excited to submit those, too! Just waiting for them to be completed. I love that all of these POIs are far enough away from one another that all of them should be eligible as pokestops, and I’m eager to see if one of them becomes a gym! There’s a decent chance since there are a couple S2 cells where there will be a few waystops if they are all accepted. The majority of them are outdoor workout equipment, so their exact location has no wiggle room, so it will be a game of chance. I don’t mind that though, I’m just happy to have more pokestops on my favorite walking trail, and I’m so happy to see other players benefiting from them as well! ![]()
Thank you! ![]()
My Pikmin brought me a postcard from one of my new wayspots today as well, but there aren’t any flowers or mushrooms showing up on the map yet. Anyone know what the process is like for new POIs in Pikmin Bloom?
They do not have regular syncs. I think they did one a few months ago. But before that there was maybe one other sync. This is for mushrooms and flowers.
Postcards can be bright randomly from other places and I think that information comes in more regularly.
Thanks for the info! There’s not much information about Pikmin Bloom’s syncing online, so that’s helpful! Do you think getting a postcard from those spots is an indicator a flower or mushroom might eventually appear there?
Not necessarily. To my knowledge they don’t want mushrooms and flowers to be tightly packed - since the whole goal is to walk and get steps in. That said I do think they use the wayspot database to populate postcards.
