Existing Wayspots that are too close

This is my first post here, and I hope that this problem can be resolved. These two submissions have their locations too close to each other, even in real life. the blue memorial square sign is less than a meter from the little free library box (gray box).

Some help to clarify why I only see one of these submissions in game.

You stated why in your post: they are too close together.

They may both be valid wayspots, but the various games have their own criteria for adopting wayspots onto their play field.

I don’t think any of the existing Niantic games would allow both in play at the same time.

Google’s Street View for that street is from 2008, before either item existed. Bing’s Streetside is from 2014 and shows the “Anthony M. Klim Square” sign.

Either way, I suspect someone could possibly argue that both spots are on the high school property. I didn’t dig into boundaries, but it certainly looks to me like that leads into the school parking lot. So, maybe they should both go away?

that may be so, but The “Free Library” submission disappeared from the POGO map when I submitted the “Klim Square” Submission.

Accepted wayspots are stored in Niantics Lightship database. Then each of the 5 different games uses their unique inclusion rules to populate their game boards. O wayspot may be used in none, one, or many games.

Long story short, there is no such thing as too close for eligible/accepted wayspots. They just may or may not show up in your game(s) of choice.

Side note: the Pikmin sync yesterday pulled in a previously Lightship only data point as a Mushroom! Similar occurrences are happening with the new Power Spots in Pokemon Go.

Thanks for the clarification. This means that two wayspots in extremely close proximity can’t show up in one game at a time, but that may be subject to change.

Not exactly. Two Wayspots on either side of an L17 S2 cell line can both go live in Pokemon Go even virtually on top of each other.

Submitting something new would not make a Pokestop disappear. The Pokestop would have to have been moved or removed.

(It is possible that when you submitted “Klim Square” that reviewers saw the “Free Library” Wayspot on the nearby check and reported it.)

That’s exactly what I think happened. When “Klim Square” was submitted, whomever reviewed it didn’t check the name of the existing wayspot that was virtually on top of that submission. It then got flagged as a duplicate when it was actually an entirely different, live wayspot.

The question now is, how can a feature be implemented to fix this issue?

I am getting really confused here. If you need to check to see if both Wayspots still exist, you can begin a nomination from Pokemon Go and turn on the toggle on the map screen to check for Wayspots that don’t show in Pokemon Go, like this:

n
You can tap on the ! to see the Wayspot:

It only works while you are right there in person, not remotely.

If the Wayspot is still there, but is not correctly located in real life, you can use help chat from the help menu on the Wayfarer site to request a location edit for an edit that you cannot do in game. But only use this option if the Wayspot is actually incorrectly located. They will not do an edit to make it appear in any specific game, and will consider that abuse.

If both Wayspots exist and are correctly pinned, there is nothing you can do.
