I am wondering with this stop is not in Pokemon Go. It was accepted in 2020 after the infamous press conference with the Presidents attorney. Then after about a month it was gone from Pokemon but the portal remains in Ingress. Can we get it back? When I saw @NianticTintino last summer at Go Fest in NYC, i mentioned this to him but never followed up. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum @razlaw !

Usually if something eligible by the inclusion rules does not appear in Pogo but does in Ingress, the property owner has requested the Pokemon Go location be removed. Glad you asked, and maybe staff can tell us if this is the case.

Thank you for the welcome! I recognize you from the discord forum.

That was my thought that the company would request to have it removed. But that wouldn’t make sense since this is a company that was featured on a Super Bowl commercial, has a large social media following, sell merchandise based on the press conference.

It is in the database, and it is also an Ingress portal. There are no other POI’s in the same level 17 S2 Cell, so it could be that the property owners ask that the way spot not be a poke stop. That’s just speculation, and of course, Niantic staff can confirm, but it is visible in the database.

It’s in an empty cell. There are other POI’s on the street and a Pokemon Go Gym.

Yes, that’s what I said. Which is why I think maybe the property owners may have asked for it to be removed from Pokémon GO, again just speculation, but it’s definitely in the database

Hello and welcome,

Yes, I agree that maybe the owner doesn’t like all the publicity, and would just like to get back to their business of landscaping. It does seem very possible they used the PoGo link to request modification/removal.

I also have questions about how this was even accepted as a Wayspot, as it’s a generic business, and I wouldn’t call the event that happened there to be all that historical; some may view it as controversial even. Street View doesn’t show any marker here marking the event, just a landscaping business. Even on Street View, they installed a security camera between August 2019 and May 2022. That’s possibly another indication that the owner doesn’t want the publicity and just wants to be left alone.

BTW, here’s the link that we’ve been speaking of. You don’t have to be a property owner/manager to use it.
