An okay! Thank you!!!

I am so jealous of ingress players for this. They dont have to wander around in the dark

I heard that Ingress players only wonder around in the dark to avoid Pokemon Go players… Can’t verify that though.

Has it been confirmed that submitting new photos for PokeStops/portals will count toward the challenge? I don’t see anything about photos in the announcements and it’s technically not an edit.

it gets dark at 4pm here :pensive: and thats prime pogo playing time

4pm is Ingress players start to do smoke signals to other players…

to be fair i cant hide from pogo players when there are none #rural

Just wait until you get to non-rural areas. Smoke Signals work well in those areas…

Yes, photo adds count. Niantic considers them an edit to an existing Wayspot.

They called them edits here:

I’ve managed 22 edits. Couldn’t really add pictures in the dark so only did 2 of those (for illuminated stuff)

I think I could do a lot better if there was daylight

Oh, 1 just got accepted, plus one of the photos also got accepted

Have to think of the long game. Once that’s approved, “Mural by artist ‘Peachy.’”

The ML edits, I don’t think Niantic really thought those through, as I’ve had 7 approved (2 yesterday, 5 today). It’ll be interesting to see what the community numbers are, but hey, if we reach 24K, I’ll get those 5 Rare Candy (which is the most appealing reward to me out of all the rewards).

How do you intend to stop people from submitting edits that don’t need to be edits just for the sake of getting credit for the challenge? Like changing one letter or adding punctuation or something.

I’m sure Niantic is monitoring this, and will take action if needed. This would be see as abusive if done solely to get the rewards, and not for improving the map. More info on how Niantic monitors this and enforces it can be found here:

This whole Challenge is to train the AI that does the reviews. I’m sure Niantic staff is closely watching our submissions, to guide the Machine Learning. Including learning when to flag as abuse.

Yes.
