Global Edit Challenge - Discussion, Rules, and Prizes!

Photo submission count too?

Just before event started submitted every portal photo along side new portal nominations :face_exhaling:

There are limits being put in place, due to issues during the first day.

Those photos do not count, as the challenge started on Oct 30th at 12pm PDT, and those in the screenshot show Oct 29th or earlier.

hahaha i doing same thing but i dont know how check my rate of progress

I also remembered that you get +500 AP in Ingress for an approved photo.

I donā€™t think the Challenge will level me up but itā€™s a nice extra.

only accept mail. No AP gained today

You get the AP when the photo goes live at sync time. It pops up on your scanner.

Ok, almost 2 days in, and really wanting to know where the community is at. Hope we get a total update soon!

Also, an error that Iā€™ve had several times has started to happen to others. If you are getting your own edits while reviewing, please report here, or give it an upvote (it has been escalated):

Iā€™ve done a few edits. There were a few in my local area that needed updates. London Underground and National Rail stations are going to be fun to provide updated descriptions.

Iā€™ve found a few older Wayspots that donā€™t have descriptions so itā€™s led to doing some research about them and seeing what I can add as one.

I found old, what I suspect were imported or original Ingress subs, that had no descriptions or outdated titles. A few had very crude and basic descriptions. I thought I would go out of my way to provide some detailed descriptions and include some history. One of my local parks has some interesting history to it.

Iā€™m surprised that ML didnā€™t approved the descriptions I added to Wayspots without them! One was for a buffalo statue thatā€™s part of a citywide art exhibit, and I even researched and found who the artist is. The other was a bowling alley, which shouldā€™ve been an easy ML approval, too.

Itā€™s just interesting to me to see what ML is approving (all my photos and 3 text edits so far) and what it isnā€™t, especially for older Wayspots without descriptions.

Completely legit.

Though, I would move 'by Peachy" to the description with additional info and rename the spot to an official name (if one can be found), or Untitled Mural at < location >.

But thatā€™s because I hate artists names in titles. I have no idea why, though.

Do the PokemonGo and Ingress teams know that syncs are going to be bigger? Iā€™ll bet a WHOLE LOT of pictures have been added already. Thatā€™ll be more processing time.

I assume they do, and prepared for it ahead of time. Iā€™ve already had 1 Wayspot title edit from yesterday accepted by ML synced to PoGo.

sure

Oh that was the description

The title was the name of the piece

Ah, I can confirm this change. Looks like Iā€™m venturing this weekend for adding photos.

I was concentrating on photos as text and location edits seem to always be rejected if ā€œour teamā€ decides them. have submitted my limit in ingress and pogo both. ML has accepted most of the photos, and none of the other edits - but have only done 22 of those.

Edit: checked again and six have been decided after all - trying to ascertain if it was our team.

Edit again: as far as i can tell they were, but it could have been in house voting that i didnā€™t happen to see. several are in in-house review

All my photos have been accepted by ML, 7 so far, while 2 title edits that just fix grammar have been accepted, and 1 description for a local art store. I didnā€™t get any edits done today, but hope to tomorrow.
