I didn’t say you should not have edited it. I meant, now its been edited, and is correct, why do you mind if the PoGo rule isnt applying to it? You corrected the map, surely that’s okay? You did the job.
I don’t understand why you’d pursue the specific disappearance of a gym which appears to be an eligible waypoint in a correct location since the edit, that has, for unknown reasons, not yet disappeared? Its odd, but not actually a wayfarer glitch.
Personally I would do the edits and then just let the game sort itself out. If someone gets a bonus gym, with a correct map, does it harm anything? It may well just be a delay anyway and may update soon to make it disappear without further intervention.
Pokémon Go does not always check if a cell has more than one item. It does not always disappear a gym that, most likely, would become a gym again if it was cell free and available for a new gym. This is not a bug or problem of wayfarer, but of Pokémon Go synchronization.
If you wanted to disappear that gym to create a new one, you can simply try to remove it and then resend it as a new wayspot where it goes. Then, it would no longer come out in Pokémon Go and the new gym would be generated.
Thanks, Nadie - the intention is not to remove a gym, but rather to understand how/why this oddity occurred. I appreciate the insight into the sync issues!
It is more rare that it disappears than that it does not. It is because of this type of moves that there was a massive resynchronization in Pokémon Go some time ago. I don’t know if you got to see the image where there was a line full of gyms that were created by moves…
Should this be moved to the bug reports section? This is not working as intended if the pogo algorithm is not been rechecked on edits involving gyms, but I know the Wayfarer and Pokemon Go teams are separate.
oh i should have tagged an ambassador to move it. i know you can’t, but they can. i was asking if it should be moved because i am not sure it is a wayfarer problem.
Alright - it appears to have been resolved! Only one POI exists in that cell now.
Don’t y’all just love how this happens just as it’s starting to get interesting?
Anyway, here’s the resolution:
Edit submitted May 30;
Edit approved June 22, resulting in 2 POIs in the same level 17 S2 cell;
Sync occurred July 1, removing 1 of the POIs.
