This is my first post on the forum, but I thought this now might be the correct way to go about it since suggesting a move for the gym in question through the in-game method has now been declined twice. And I firmly believe that that my suggestion for moving it is correct
So there is a gym in my local neighbourhood witch has its location quite a bit out of sync (IMO), I have tried suggesting relocating to the middle of the playground witch the gym is representing, and not the 30-50m further a long the hiking trail that passes between the neighbourhoods and other locations the hiking trail leads to.
The playground also has its own “gate” or access point furthest directly away from in game location.
I walked to the playground to stand as much bang in the middle of the playground as i could, and then screenshot Googlemaps With coordinates to show ideal position for the gym location in-game. I also added a picture of me standing in the same spot in the game, to better try and visualise the adjustment needed. (Removed my player name)
So my question is, should I keep trying to ask for relocating it to my suggested location or just leave it as is? My thought was to have the gym represent the real world location as best possible. This might be a small adjustment compared maybe other POIs, but still I think its worth the adjustment.
Have you attempted to submit the location edit through the wayfarer support chat? If you don’t know how to find that, login to your wayfarer account on the wayfarer website, tap on the hamburger menu, then go to the help page. You’ll see an orange speech bubble icon in the corner of the help page. This will open a support ticket if you tap on it, and one of the things you can request is a location edit. You’ll be able to provide additional evidence when requesting the edit, and it’ll be looked at by the wayfarer team themselves. It could take a couple of days for them to respond to the ticket, but they will look at it and either accept the edit or decide that it doesn’t need editing.
I’m not very familiar with how these cells work, just that world map is divided into these cells and they decide what can be gym And not.
If it is removed as a gym that would be a big let down TBH. There is another gym, about 5mins walk away from this one. So I was hoping it would remain a gym, with my barebones knowledge about cells should I expect it to be just made into a normal stop, and that the move have been declined because it would be downgrades to a stop?
Guess I just have to wait and see since I recon I cant reclaim the support ticked i sendt?
Seeing the POGO screenshot you send earlier in the topic I don’t think it will disappear since the screenshot does not contain any nearby pokestops from what is seeable.
You can not reclaim the ticket from what I know. Once it is sent you will have to wait out the result.
Good luck with your edit, do let us know if things worked out and what the results are.
Hey, to hopefully give you an answer whether what was gonna happen with the gym, I searched up the coordinates provided by you on our limited info map, but I think the gym will indeed disappear.
You are moving the orange circle above the red pin(the playground gym you are talking about) to a whole new cell. Lv17 cell and Lv14 cell. The red pin is the location provided by you
This means it will reappear as a pokestop, if the location change is approved. And another pokestop will randomly be chosen for a new gym in the old Lv17 cell it once was.
I did a bit more research for you and this is the full picture of what the map looks like since 23rd of May. So any new stops won’t appear on the map.
As you can see, the big cell above (which has a number 13 in the middle) has 7 spots in POGO, if the playground gets moved to the new big cell it now leaves only 6 spots which is barely enough to let new second gym appear.
Your new proposed location (the red pin) is in a another big cell ( The bottom big cell which shows a 2 in the middle) which now has 4 spots (seeable on this outdated map). The playground if accepted will be moved here so the cell has 5 spots then. If you are able to get a new pokestop accepted in this bottom big cell the playground might randomly be chosen to be the gym again, kinda getting your old situation back.
If you have questions please ask, I know it is a lot of information and it might be confusing, as to how I am explaining it. I did my best to be as clear and understandable as possible.
I have seen many people regret their decision when gym disappear. Hopefully you are fully aware of what you are doing.
I am not saying you shouldnt correct it. Correcting gym location is right thing to do. But sometimes there are occasion where there will be multiple correct location. Knowledge of s2 cell will help prevent future disappointment
I didnt check the placement but according to the scenario provided by AMG7070, its not really bad. But u need to plan ahead to make another gym in south cell
If south cell have 5 wayspot, it means it only need 1 more submission to create gym. But north cell will have random wayspot turn into gym.
I at least understand that i need 7stops in cell nr.2 for it to make another gym in that cell, and I will try and get some more nominations in that cell. Is 7 stops a guaranteed new Gym, randomly selected in the cell? Or is it just a possibility for getting lucky and one stop turning into a gym?
If its moved and looses the «gym» it is at least more correctly placed. Thankfully there are a few more things in the nr.2 cell, I can nominate for stops, I have one in queue now at least.
And guess I will try and get at least 1 more nominations in cell.13 getting another gym in if the gym is moved to cell nr.2 and downgraded to a stop. Hoping I dont ruin routes, or daily pokemon routine with the gym, seeing it has quite a bit of activity compared to other gyms in the area. And often is a place where ppl do raids together. So I feel kinda stupid and regret sending the ticket when the outcome might be that someone looses access to a gym. Damn.
Thank you for this, you and AMG certainly have educated me to day, I appreciate it
I will read up on the link for cells.
Is there an app (IOS) or web-based for PC and or mobile that I can use to see the cells with the stops in like AMG7070 posted? To better plan when nominating new stops?
You can use iitc but with limitation because ingress have split with pokemon go. Or use crowdsource apps like pogomap info. But you need to fill up the map yourself
Anyway disclaimer:
Missplacement of wayspot submission or attempting to move wayspot from correct location because game issue is subject to abuse ladder system. Hopefully this doesnt happen.
Using Ingress Intel you can see the cell boundaries, both the smaller cells in which only one pokestop/gym can exist and the larger cells (8x8) in which the pokestops → gym rules apply.
There are other maps, but they are not reliable.
Unfortunately, Ingress Intel is now out of date, as it may have wayspots that are no longer in Pokemon Go and will be missing ones that have been added recently to Pokemon Go. However, it does make a good guide for locating wayspots when you have a legitimate choice of where to put it.
Deliberately putting a wayspot in the wrong place just to get it to appear in Pokemon Go is abuse.
An example is a football field. Generally, behind the goal is a good place for the marker, but in the middle of the playing area. Since you normally have two goals, you can choose which goal to use for the marker and it is legitimate to make that choice using a map to put it where it best suits you (since you are submitting).
What you can’t do is try to move an existing wayspot from one goal to the other to make it better for you. You can improve the location (e.g., move it from the middle of the field to behind a goal) but trying to get it from one good location to one that is just as good, for the purposes of gameplay, is also abusive.
Trying to move an already correct location to get it to show up in one specific game - usually pogo - is considered game manipulation abuse, even when the the suggested location is equally correct.
I will just reply to myself instead of editing. Based on the wording in help*, I thought that it was fine to submit an edit that was an equally correct pin for the point of interest as long as the edit was not moving the pin away. It came up in WDD one day, and Roli showed me this, which I don’t have a link to:
Do not submit location edits just to manipulate a game. Only actual corrections.
* This is the wording I mentioned at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/criteria/rejection
Abusive location
Locations that are intentionally and strategically placed to provide advantage to a single player or collective group. Or location edits that attempt to move the Wayspot away from the object with which it’s associated (for example, moving the Wayspot to a different city/country or moving it to a more convenient location).
We all do our best here to help everyone. I had some time left and usually people like having some simulations so can expect and be prepared of what might happen, so I made one for you.
IITC is defenitely still usuable for the cell grids, but the map is getting oudated, so always check ingame as well.
Please also read up what the other people provided here regarding to location edits, but it seems like to me you are defenitely doing a good location change, and just want to do the right thing.
We will patiently with you of whatever the outcome may be.
