Description of the issue:

→ Hello, Technical team,

The purpose of this report is to request that this PokéStop be restored to a Gym.

This Wayspot was originally a Gym. However, after its title was updated, it was incorrectly downgraded to a PokéStop. The location continues to fully meet all criteria for being a Gym, and there are no safety concerns or gameplay issues at the site.

I kindly ask your team to review the historical records and restore this Wayspot to a Gym. After reviewing the relevant game mechanics, I believe this is a serious Gym synchronization issue (Gym Sync Bug).

The details are as follows:

Recently, this Wayspot underwent a title and description edit. Before the edit, it was a Gym, and there was a PokéStop located behind it. After the edit was approved, the Wayspot’s title was correctly updated, but it was unexpectedly downgraded from a Gym to a PokéStop.

In addition, the nearby PokéStop was not promoted to a Gym, and no new Gym was created anywhere within the same S2 Level 14 Cell. As a result, there are currently two valid PokéStops but no Gym at all within the same S2 Level 14 Cell, which appears to be inconsistent with Pokémon GO’s normal Gym distribution rules.

Since only the title was changed while the location remained exactly the same and the Wayspot continues to meet all eligibility requirements, I respectfully request that the technical team manually refresh the map data (Force Map Sync) for this area and restore the renamed Wayspot to its original Gym status.

I can also provide supporting evidence showing that this Wayspot was previously a Gym and that its location has never changed.

My friends and I have been dedicated Pokémon GO players since the game was first released. We have consistently encouraged returning players to come back and have actively introduced new players to the game. We have also been looking forward to all of the events in July, especially the Mega Mewtwo event.

Therefore, I sincerely ask the support team to help restore the original Gym at this location, or, in accordance with the game’s existing Gym eligibility rules, promote the renamed PokéStop back to a Gym.

Please refer to the attachments for evidence.

Thank you very much for your time, understanding, and assistance. I truly appreciate your help.

The gym density in this area is correct. 土地公廟 (25.090519,121.251755) is a gym and there are not enough pokestops for a second gym at the moment.

(As an aside, I am surprised at the name change being accepted as that looks like repurposing. )

If the threshold for active POIs in a cell drops below what’s needed to create a gym, nothing happens to gyms already created in that cell. If somehow wayspots in that cell get removed and cause the threshold to sink below what’s needed, the gym will only disappear if someone successfully edits its location and title. That’s most likely what happened here.

Hey @791509232623 ,

Welcome to the Wayfarer Community Forum.

This is an incorrect assumption. These are two completely different Wayspots.

No, the live Wayspot was never a Gym.

We’re constantly making improvements to Pokémon GO. Occasionally, you may notice changes to the PokéStops or Gyms in your community. While we’re unable to fulfill requests to change any PokéStops into Gyms at this time, we recognize the value of a feature such as this and hope you continue to seek out adventures at other PokéStops and Gyms in your surrounding communities. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us again if you encounter any other issues in the future.

Best,

What I mean is that the Wayspot originally named “Far Glory Free Trade Zone” "遠雄自由貿易港區"was a Gym. However, on the morning of June 27, it was unexpectedly changed into a regular Wayspot under the new name “STARLUX Airlines Operations Center” "星宇航空運籌中心"without any prior notice. In addition, all of the Gym coins that had been accumulated from defending the Gym the previous day were completely removed.

The screenshots I provided above can serve as evidence of what happened. I sincerely hope your team will investigate this issue and give it the attention it deserves.

We have been loyal players who have supported Pokémon GO since its early days, and we are genuinely looking forward to the upcoming events in July. We hope you will take our concerns seriously and help protect the interests of your players.

In addition, I would like to ask your team to review the location of the Wayspot “Tudigong Temple” “土地公廟”(25.090519, 121.251755). Its current position does not appear to be suitable for player exploration. We would appreciate it if you could conduct a thorough review of its placement.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

I have already looked at this location.

This is not accurate. The Wayspot “Far Glory Free Trade Zone” “遠雄自由貿易港區” was removed and the Wayspot "STARLUX Airlines Operations Center” “星宇航空運籌中心” is completely different one that was submitted later.

This Wayspot is at the correct location and doesn’t require any adjustments.

Thanks,

Thank you for your explanation.

If we would like the Wayspot “STARLUX Airlines Operations Center” to become a Gym in the future, could you please let us know if there is any specific process or requirement to achieve this?

We would greatly appreciate it if you could provide guidance on the appropriate steps. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Each game determines which Wayspot becomes the type of location it becomes. This process is outside the scope of Wayfarer and as a result, we are unable to assist you.

The map shows that the L14 cell currently has 5 Occupied cells (1 Gym and 4 Pokestops).

If another wayspot is accepted in to one of the unoccupied cells to make a total of 6 then 1 of the 5 (either the new wayspot or the 4 current Pokestops) will become a Gym.

Which 1 will be random.

Good Luck

Streetview history shows what happened here.

Far Glory Free Trade Zone was a building that existed until 2015/2016, when the entire structure was demolished.

STARLUX Airlines Operations Center is a new building on the same site that was built at some point between 2019 and 2022

These wayspots were not related and were not in the same cell, so the removal of the first one (red marker) did not cause the second one (purple marker) to become a pokestop.
