Clarifications on Pokémon Go Power Spots

Hello Explorers, In response to the widespread interest in this subject, the Wayfarer and Pokémon Go teams came together with some response to your main questions. Let’s first align on the terminology. In Pokémon Go, those new locations where you can experience Dynamax and Gigantamax are called Power Spots. They are different locations than Pokéstops and Gyms. The imports typically do not have photos or descriptions, and are not on the Wayfarer map. The unused Wayspots that do get used will have photos and will be listed as being used in other games on the nomination map in PoGo. Here’s how imports look:

Also to note that Power Spots cannot be within 22m of an active stop/gym, and only 2 Power Spots can be active in a L14 S2 cell at the same time.

You can see the active Power Spots in Campfire, and there is an option to view it in your Maps app, which would allow you to get the coordinates. There is no database where we can see all of the Power Spots at this time.

It may not be a good thing to try and “influence” Power Spots, as this could be seen as trying to manipulate the map, which is against the ToS and considered abuse. Yes, there are a good deal of imports for Power Spots, but that’s something that the PoGo team decided on, and we can’t nominate anything to be a Power Spot, which may not have to follow the Wayfarer criteria if an import. We still have to follow Wayspot criteria when nominating, and can only hope that our Wayspots may get used as a stop/gym/Power Spot in PoGo.
