Do I have to go through submissions on the page in order to find a submission that might be a duplicate of one I want to submit? There isn’t a map and I’d be surprised if no one has nominated the same spot yet.
You can’t see what others have nominated. In my own Wayfinding, it doesn’t matter to me if someone else has nominated it. It’s pretty rare when i have nominated the same thing as someone at the same time. Nominations are finishing the process in under 2 weeks these days. With that kind of speed, i think you’re unlikely to waste many nominations on things that are also in process from another Wayfinder.
What you do need to learn to check is whether it is already on the map but not showing in game. Those show up as exclamation points on the first mao you see when you’re nominating in PGO.
When you go into the submission process, you can check the map to see what already exists. Sometimes, wayspots will exist that don’t show up in Pokemon GO due to the density/inclusion rules.
This is the best way to check what is already in the system.
You cannot see what has been submitted and is still being decided.
To add: the app-submission map has limited range and can only show wayspots from your real world immediate radius.
