How do I make sure my nomination is a duplicate or not?

I nominated a playground set on August 24th 2025, which is shown in the photos below:

When I made the submission, I made sure that there were no existing pokestops nearby that share the same names or photos as mine. But for some reason, my submission was marked as “duplicate”.

I checked again and there were still no pokestops that use the same photo or are based on the same object, so I appealed. The review came back and simply said:
“Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The Wayspot in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as only one Wayspot per play area is permitted under our policies. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria before submitting your next Wayspot contribution:

I don’t get it, if mine is a “duplicate”, how can’t I find the “original”?

UPDATE: the exact location of my nomination is: 20.99696297400308, 105.73948153650011

UPDATE 2: I came to the location again to check and this is the only existing wayspot resembling my nomination the most. Nothing else came to mind…

Hello and welcome @Beeyellowzzz

Looking at the picture it appears to be a piece of play equipment.

Are there any other wayspots for that play area?

You should only have one wayspot for a distinct play area and not for each piece of equipment. If there already is another piece then this would be a duplicate.

Is that a possible scenario for what has happened here?

Hi @elijustrying,

Yes, it’s a play equipment in a community playground. Here is the exact location of the said submission: XPWQ+MR8, Tây Mỗ, Nam Từ Liêm, Hà Nội, Vietnam

I used IITC map and went to the place by myself, but I haven’t found any similar pokestop. And I don’t know any other way to check the waystops that do not appear in Pokemon go.

Did you make sure to have the toggle turned on to see any other Wayspots when nominating? If there was a Wayspot for the playground there but it wasn’t being used as a stop/gym, it would be an orange exclamation point on the map, similat to this:

Intel no longer syncs with Wayfarer as of May 23rd, 2025. Ingress has split from Wayfarer, due to the sale of Wayfarer and other games to Scopely. More info can be found here:

Can you please provide the eastings, northings coordinates that were in the submission receipt email. The location you provided is very hard to pick up using google maps.

Hi @salixsorbus,

Here is the coordinates of the location based on Google map: 20.99696297400308, 105.73948153650011

Thanks. I can’t see anything close by that would cause that to be flagged as a duplicate, but I’m using a database that is now over 3 months out of date, so it might have been added recently. Alternatively, it already exists but in the wrong location /or/ it already exists in the right location and you have misplaced the submission.

Hi @DTrain2002,

I went to the location again and did as your instruction. This is the wayspot that resembles my nomination the most (in term of the material, apparently)

Could it be that reviewers had mistaken my submission for this? If that’s the case how do I get them to notice?

You just have to post here, which you have done already :slightly_smiling_face:

Aren’t these two objects part of the same play area?

Seem like both your submission and the original wayspot is in the same playground. Unless you can proven both is different age of play, they will be duplicate.

Hi @TrungLatias,

Thank for the clear explanation. I’ve got it now :smiling_face_with_tear:
