Wayspot/Pokestop denied and identified as “duplicate…”. This is not a duplicate at all. There is no pre-existing Pokestop or Gym that is near this scultpure - and it should not have been identified as a duplicate. For some reason I am not able to appeal this rejection.
Considering that you are submitting waypoints and not pokestops / gyms (even though approved waypoints may turn into pokestops / gyms in Pokemon Go), you will need to consider that your nomination may already exist in the Lightship Database and may already exist in other games (Ingress). Without knowing the co-ordinates for where this nomination is, it’s hard for some of us to confirm if it is duplicate or not.
It already exists in Ingress and should be in Pokémon GO too I think as Suave 2005
You already appealed it by the looks of things, hence the longer note explaining why it was rejected. You cannot appeal rejected appeals.
As the other comments have said, it’s in the database, so it is a duplicate.
Ah ok! Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t realize that is how it worked outside of Pokemon.
To avoid these in the future you can actually check inside Pokemon Go if something is already a Wayspot(even if it isnt a Pokestop/gym). When you go to place down the locational pin it should show you markers around the map(if I remember correctly they are orange in Go), those are wayspots. Click on any near by your location and see if it is already there. Theres a specific spacing requirement for Pokestops so often enough things that are wayspots but not in Go are already in a cell that is occupied by a pokestop/gym.
It’s funny you mention that - I remember when I submitted the Pokestop - there was an orange / red marker on the map, and I thought it was where the default marker was before I adjusted the location before submitting. Good to know!
