How is a cemetary a violation of community standards?

I recently submitted a request at a cemetery. It was denied as a violation of community standards. Can someone please tell me why? There are several cemeteries around town with stops already. I’m not understanding how this is a violation.

Welcome to the forum!

Criteria can change over the years, and some things have been mistakenly accepted, so you can’t always go by what you currently see in game when submitting. There is a clarification on cemeteries here:

If you want to share screenshots of your whole nomination, we can give our opinions as to whether this should be an exception.

Also, I am not familiar with “violation of community standards” as a rejection reason. Would you share a screenshot of where you saw that with us? Remember not to include any personal information.

Cemeteries are a weird case, cemeteries themselves get rejected, but locally, I’ve seen wayspots of Cemetery entrances and even graves with no significance (e.g - Celtic Cross is one of the names, no description) getting accepted.

I’ve never heard Violation of Community Standards either.

I think entrances to cemeteries, especially pedestrian ones are good candidates. They are often pretty ornate with interesting details.

Maybe this is how not meeting criteria translates in another language. Not every translation is exactly to how we see it in English. I also wonder if @brewergirl19 may have received a warning of some sort, based on how warning/ban emails tend to be worded.

I also agree that more info is needed, since cemeteries usually are ineligible, unless they are historic/cultural in some way.

this is exactly why i requested to see it.

I totally agree. I see many cemetery entrances used as stops as well. However, the one time I ask for a stop at a cemetery entrance was auto denied. I just don’t understand why some are approved and some are auto denied. No consistency!

Yes, I received a warning for asking for more than 1 stop in one day. My phone states “You have 40 PokeStop nominations available today.” As a 56 year old female playing, I did not interpret that message correctly apparently. I’ve asked for this warning to be removed. Note: I just reached level 50 last week.

Strange, what warning did you get? To the best of my knowledge, you can certainly nominate more than 1 wayspot per day (I did several this saturday)

Again, cemeteries are not eligible locations, except if they are of historical/cultural value. Cyndie provided you with the link to the clarification on sensitive locations, which cemeteries fall under, so submitting more than one POI that’s at a cemetary could be seen as a violation.

It’s best before submitting again to read up on the Wayspot Criteria, to educate yourself as to what may or may not be eligible. You can also learn more in the Criteria Clarification Collection, which lays out a good amount of info on some of the most asked about POIs (Points of Interest).

Age really isn’t a factor here, as we have many older users that submit and/or review. This is more of an issue with learning what may or may not be eligible, which anyone can learn at almost any age that is allowed to participate in Wayfarer.

If you received a warning, you should still be able to participate in Wayfarer, as well as other Scopely games/products, such as PoGo. Warnings are meant to educate, to help those that may not fully know the criteria understand it better. You can appeal the warning by explaining that you didn’t know that what you nominated didn’t meet current criteria (yes, there are some cemeteries that have Wayspots, but criteria changed and any cemeteries still in active use and not of historical/cultural value should be removed, and removal requests can be done in-game or using the Reporting Abuse link at the top of the forums). Here’s the link to appeal the warning: Wayfarer Abuse Enforcement Ladder Policy — Wayfarer Help Center

I received a first warning. I’m an honest player who plays daily and was quick shocked with the warning. Apparently, I must be flagged for doing so :slightly_frowning_face:. Thank you for responding.

Again, it rarely happens that an incorrect submission is erroneously approved. Just as you may have submitted without knowing the criteria by which a cemetery is deemed inappropriate, reviewers may accept submissions without knowing the criteria.
Once accepted, Wayspot will not be removed unless it meets the removal criteria. Also, many times they remain because no one reports that they should be removed for years. Perhaps Wayspot in the cemetery should be handled as such if a removal report is made. It is common for a novice to start a Wayspot recommendation with “because I’ve seen it before,” but please re-read the criteria and consider it as written.

They submitted Wayspots at a cemetery, and cemeteries are sensitive locations and thus not allowed, unless they are of historical/cultural value.

An example of a historical/cultural cemetery would be Woodlawn Cemetery in The Bronx, NY, which is the resting place for many well-known people, as well as having an abortorium and unique architecture dating back to the 1800s. They encourage people to visit, as long as they are respectful, to see the many plants on the grounds and the historic buildings.

Hi, I’m really confused by what you mean here. What warning did you receive and do you happen to be comfortable sharing a screenshot of it?

Congratulations are in order :tada:

Hello @brewergirl19

We would like help you with your situation.
In order to do that we need some clear information so we can unpick what has happened, what has got wrong, and how to avoid this in the future. At the moment there are some missing pieces of the jigsaw and we are guessing.

Can you provide a screenshot of the warning email or emails - make sure to hide/remove your email address.
Can you post a screenshots of your full nomination both photos all the text and if you are comfortable the location - this will help us determine more about the nomination itself.
Did you submit this nomination just the once - or did you make multiple submissions of the same place ( it doesn’t sound like you did but it is worth clarifying :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I don’t see any recent warnings on your account, not from Wayfarer.

Gendji, I cannot find the actual email as it was received a few months back. I had submitted several requests for stops that day. The next day, I received the email stating that I violated the criteria and this was my 1st warning. Any future violations will result in the termination of my account. I was so surprised by the email as I thought that I was following the standards set for requesting a new stop.

It was an honest error on my part as I must have requested too many new stops in one day and someone reported me for doing so. That is why I would like to have my account looked into and see if this violation could be removed.

I’ve been playing since 8-11-2019 and play throughout the day, everyday. I’ve stuck alot of money over the years playing and don’t want my account locked or terminated. I’m addicted, lol.

Thank you for checking! I appreciate you looking into this further.

I think what happened was ML, the AI system, rejected some of your nominations for not meeting criteria. ML takes about 24 hours to review new submissions, and for new Wayspot nominations, it will either reject for not meeting criteria, or pass the nomination on to he reviewed by either the community or staff. For ML rejected nominations, the email will say “our team” rejected, and usually notes that the nomination doesn’t meet criteria.
