I have tried several times to get a dam approved. So in 1970 a dam was built and an artifical lake was made a few km from here.
My first attempts were for the dam, and them for the trailpath that goes over it. First photo was taken in the middle of the dam, 2nd attempt from a high ground, then from a km away so that you see a body of water and a line. Then i shifter to titling it as a trailpath, and then i gave up.
Initially it was denied as a natural feature and private property and when i shifted to trailpath that it was just a trailpath and no signs were shown,.which is true. On satelite or map its clearly visible a straight line on the lake beach… hence obviously man made.
“Wayfarer criteria” indicates that the ML model couldn’t detect anything eligible in the photo. Unless there is a sign you could focus the photo on instead, I think I would appeal this one, highlighting the points that @PkmnTrainerJ mentioned.
[Edited to clarify that I do not have a 100% success rate with appeals, and that your results may vary. But at least the human team at Niantic will review the nomination.]
Yes a great place to exercise and to explore can be ticked off. There is a trailpath that takes you over the dam. So yes… if you go there to walk after a full day of meetings you will meet lots of people who are doing the same.
I agree with that yes… i would need a drone to make a photo from the air to show a dam in its full size so it would be obvious … but i am just on foot and no such gadgets
I’m a huge fan of this type of infrastructure but I know it can be terribly difficult to convey. You definitely want something permanent and distinct as your focal point, even if that isn’t the dam as a whole.
As cyndiepooh said, “the ML model couldn’t detect anything eligible in the photo”. The picture has too much nature, not enough focus on a single point. IOW too much grass, sky, trees, water. Using a drone to get more nature would only make it worse in ML’s opinion.
Try focusing on the steps as a way to access the hiking trail. (A sign, bench, or something else man-made could be good too.)
The picture Gendgi liked would be a great Supporting Image. After the nomination is improved, you could submit an edit to add that photo, then vote it up, if you like it better.
