Second Rejected Appeal:
For the first one, I would have obviously taken a picture of a trail marking sign except for the fact that there is no sign marking that trail! What does Niantic expect me to do about it??
For the second one, it’s just kind of baffling. Does whoever reviews those images think that trimmed hiking trails in the middle of a heavily forested area just… spawn naturally? From the context you can’t see in the images it’s obviously a manmade trail, but also you can see that in my images too!
Waypoints need an anchoring object to focus your photo and place the pin. Your photos appear to be of just random areas.
Also, for the second one you mention uts historical but dont explain it at all. How or why is it historical?
I realize you are showing appeals, but I suspect these were originally denied by the Machine Learning (ML) has started using to review nominations. We are finding that ML needs a clearly defined object and unfortunately not a lot of open spaces.
To be fair - having an anchor object for your nomination is really important. This is a clear place that can be distinctly identified by a person without being on their phone.
Are there any benches, trail markers, or signs here?
There is not a sign specifically for this trail, as signs would point to the nearby but distinct waterpark that already has a wayspot. What non-sign thing should I picture to get the idea of a trail across to both the ML and the voters.
Looking at the ariel shot, I’m assuming this is the place. There’s a building. Has that already been subbed? Also, is the items in the bottom right still there? If so, would they be of significance?
I don’t know the location, so it would be hard for me to know the complications, but you should be able to get the whole building in. Try using the phobe camera app, take a wide angle shot and try cropping it to see if that works?
Not every cool feature can be a Wayspot. You must be able to tell you have arrived when you get there. If there is nothing you can think of to anchor the Wayspot, then you cannot expect to get it accepted.
In the absence of a sign on a trail, I have had some luck with bollards and gates. They define the trail entrance.
