I nominated a pokestop by a fishing pond in a community I visit frequently. It meets the outdoor activity wayfare requirement and a place where people can meet. So 2/3, yet the reason given for the denial was “wayfarer requirement” I am so confused. It is my first denial and all the local ponds I know of have a stop and I basically followed what they wrote as well. I appealed but I don’t know.
Let me ask you something. If you told your friend to meet you at the pond, how wpuld they know where to wait for you? Wayfarer needs a “place” to put the spinner (in PGO terms). What this photo shows is just non-descript grass with some water behind it. How do i find that spot (without the game guiding me to it)?
I also have no way to know for certain that this is a fishing pond.
@RickaSGrey Well Seaprincess is on point here. To help us can you copy and paste the nomination into here. Including both nomination photos, description and supporting info…
So we can see where it is, remember to copy and paste the address so we can easily Google and have a butchers (look). I say copy and paste cause typing from screen grabs just makes it harder for us to help.
Looking forward to seeing this in more detail.
In the past, such “nature spots” were against criteria.
However, I was unable to quickly find if that is still the case or not.
How about that:
Hello and welcome,
Sounds like ML rejected this, as it uses Wayfarer criteria as the reason for rejection.
Ponds are hard to get approved, as they may be natural or man-made, and they might not even be used for any type of recreation, like fishing. Usually, if a pond allows fishing, there would be a sign in the area noting this, or a dock/pier that people can fish off of.
What’s needed is something to placemark this pond and tell players that it’s a great place to be social at, exercise at, and/or explore. Just a body of water doesn’t make for any of these, but something else there may make it eligible.
Keep in mind of what the other Wayspots you are seeing at or near ponds actually are for or what’s in the photo. I’m thinking they’re more for POIs at the ponds that meet criteria, not just the ponds themselves, such as the mentioned signs or docks.
Lastly, you may want to review Wayspot criteria, to get an idea of what is and isn’t eligible. You can find more info at the link below:
Actually, you can use Google Lens to search an image for text, and it’ll allow you to copy/paste.
Yes! That’s exactly what we say if we are meeting up there.
