How to nominate existing pokestop as a gym

currently my town has no gyms and i would like to nominate my local library and park to become gyms, but they are already pokestops, would that affect the nominations in anyway?

Welcome to the forum. Existing Wayspots can not be nominated as gyms.

The underlying mechanic lies within Pokemon GO, you would need to make entirely new Wayspots eligible for Pokemon GO to trigger a new gym

Hello @Harkensong,

We can help you to find and nominate new pokestops in your area . By creating new stops you should be able to create gyms.
Would you be able to tell us the name of the town so we can give some more precise details.
I shall move this to nomination support,

If you are happy to give a location (long / lat) then someone will take a look and hopefully make some suggestions on what to nominate that will trigger a Gym.

Good Luck.

oof >< that sucks

The name of the town in Christmas Valley, Oregon and our 2 major public spaces-the library and the park are already pokestops ><

43.2378° N, 120.6709° W

lat and long

Just to make it simpler…

I am not the best at map searching (calling Mr @wooperIooper  ).

It seems that this is a lovely place to live but not the best to play Pokemon Go.

Nearest thing I see is the Church, this does have a Dynamax Powerspot so nominating it for Stop might remove the powerspot so it depends what is more important to you.

Good Luck.

Someone summoned the wayspot fairy?
First, all of these sports fields can be nominated separately to make this a really great play area

Loads of untapped potential here too.. the golf course, park, Christmas Valley Lodge restaurant all seem like good candidates

Is this open year round?

The restaurant here would also work

This church could potentially have two wayspots if there is something else eligible like artwork, info signs etc if they are located favorably, but of course the church itself too

Since this church is anchored by the sign, there might be something else eligible in the building itself that could work too

Also potentially this (i don’t even know what to call it? ground mural?) and the welcome sign if they have safe pedestrian access

At the Christmas Valley Community Church there is also a playground that could be a good wayspot.

That church may have a fellowship hall, too?

Near the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Well and Wilderness Church could also be nominated (if not the same at the Seventh Day Adventist Church).

At Baert Lake there appears to be a trail of some sort? Is anything there marked?

For the sports courts in the park, place the pin for the tennis court, along the edge of the court, in the northern part of it. For what looks like a group of pickleball courts (?) place the pin there. That will give you a gym at the park.

Yes, this is a difficult area (very difficult!) but there area few possibilities.

More stuff at the park. We already mentioned the tennis court and what I think might be pickleball courts. That’s two.

At the northeast corner of the irrigated grass (?) there appears to be a playground that also would work.

Along the southern edge of the park there appears to be some sort of memorial object or plaque. That may be a possibility, too.

West of town there is The Center, that’s listed as a “community center”. If that’s what it is, it could qualify as a place to be social.

I came to the conclusion that this church is run out of a private residence but I could be wrong
