How to prove permanent display

Hi! I submitted this Wayspot and it got rejected. The reasons provided were ‘The submission is likely not permanent or distinct’ and ‘The description either contains spelling or grammatical errors, or is inaccurate’. I can’t spot any errors or inaccuracy in the description so I have to go based off on it not being permanent (because I reckon a bench with poetry engraved into it is distinct), now to the question at hand: how do I prove something is on permanent display if street view or satellite have not been updated for a while? Ta

Sorry, reviewers arent likely to accept a single bench that is not bolted to the ground. That’s the reason for the “not permanent” rejection. This bench looks like it can easily be moved around.

Addirionally, a single plain bench in front of a store, even if it was bolted down, doesn’t really meet any criteria. So, i would not try to resubmit this.

Oh, i see this has a poem. Ok, that might meet criteria. But it’s not a slam dunk.

I agree no bolted bench makes it removable and not qualified

yep, i’m agree, the problem is definitely the fact its look like a basic MOVABLE and WOOD furniture placed by the shop owner and not urban furniture bolted and protected by a large bunch of laws.
you can’t know what could happen to it tomorrow (stored by the owner because bad weather or vacation, stolen, removed because some city laws, etc)

To be fair, picnic tables that aren’t bolted to the ground are still eligible, so I wouldn’t discount it simply based on that

Picnic tables aren’t benches

“That appear to be permanent” is the key words i believe. This bench doesnt seems permanent at all. Its too easy to be moved

Well yes obviously, but I’ve definitely seen permanent looking benches that weren’t bolted to the ground so I wouldn’t discount them wholesale. Not specifically this bench as that seems temporary, it was a reply to those saying a bench couldn’t be permanent if not bolted

I don’t think English is your first language, so i want to point out that no one definitively said that. I used the phrase “aren’t likely to accept” specifically to avoid that kind of definitive messaging.

I see. Thank you for your input.

You might want to focus on what makes this bench “unique and distinct”. In other words, focus on the Harrie Sevriens poetry that is quoted on the bench.

From what I can see online, Harrie Sevriens (1957–2018) was a beloved, iconic figure in Heerlen, serving as the city’s first “stadsdichter” (city poet) from 2010 to 2012. He was deeply rooted in the local community, writing affectionate, humorous, and critical poetry about daily life in Heerlen, ultimately receiving a royal decoration for his cultural contributions.

Does this bench memorialise Harris Steven’s by quoting his work? If so, I think you can mount an argument that this bench commemorates a person who was both important and significant to your community. The nomination photo will need to show a clear picture of the poetry quote / dedication.

The only other problem that you need to address is that appears that the bench is not permanently anchored and may be stored elsewhere outside of normal business hours. Are there historical images on Google Maps that verify that this bench has existed at this location over several years?

Good luck if you decide to resubmit.

Thank you very much for the thorough response and your research. That’s very helpful. Unfortunately street view near that street hasn’t been updated since 2024 and the one actually on that street since 2018… eesh. The store didn’t even exist back then.

I think the angle doesn’t help, there is a similar poem bench in town that is stood flat against its store and when I submitted that, it did get accepted. Anyway, thank you !

I’m fully bilingual but thank you! I went back to reread the thread and I guess I misinterpreted some things lol

Trust me, I’m amazed by everyone on here who communicates in foreign language!

Less a language issue and more of a me being stupid issue in this case lol but thanks
