In the Netherlands we have multpile sorts of Routes. You can Walk/cycle/Nordicwalk/Naturewalk etc etc etc.
All these routes have one thing in comon. They use Roadsigns that will get you from point A to B.
Those Points are called “knooppunten”
You can compare it to different trainroutes that gather at a Station. The Knooppunt is like a station. You can pick another route from there.
In my Humble opinion those “knooppunten”/stations are true POI’s
But how about all those signs along the route that says , go left to go to the next station ? or go right ?
All those signs are currently abused to get POI’s in the game. And I cant find a way to get them removed afterwards, or report the submitter while using Wayfarer.
IMHO this is ABUSE and people should know that any common roadsign isnt elligeble for a POI.
Please sort this out.
Before POGO players where into wayfarer ( I mean the OPR days) these crappy things werent allowed. If people keep submitting these crap POI’s they should be banned. The uniqueness and fun is gone.
niantic regularly removes a lot of these (which is generally unpopular) but if you’re asking what to do about them in review you can use thumbs down for “permanent & distinct”. that’s how I reject similar low quality stuff in my review areas
Ah yes, the good old days when bitter bearded old men drove around in their cars and submitted only Wayspots that were the pinnacle of human endeavour.

Niantic has never formally retracted that statement to my knowledge, but it was made on the old forum and was not carried over to the new. But trail markers are still encouraged in the current clarification:
IMO these signs were submitted in good faith, follow the posted guidelines, and meet the criteria of encouraging exercise and exploration. I don’t see any abuse in submitting them.
I see where you get that assumption no offense taken.
And if 44 yrs of age is a dinosaur, no problem no offense taken .
It is just the moment POGO-players got the opportunity to submit locations, the quality whent down the drain.
And I understand the wish to have a POI in range from your home… But I really hate al those poor quality and fake submits just to get one. With made up stories etc etc.
We try to remember that wayfarer is game agnostic. Please do not make references to groups of players by making assumptions and comments about the games they may play, as it is not helpful.
We are all treated as Wayfinders in this forum.
Just wanted to hop in and say that the “Giffard Scale” was not brought over to the new forum because it has been replaced by the current criteria clarification, linked below.
I think I said that? I brought up the Giffard scale to show that people were submitting poi that had been clarified to be good Wayspots by Niantic, not just random garbage. And I posted the current clarification. If that post needs to be edited to be clearer, please do!
As long as NIA makes money out of games they dont care.
All the hard work the Ingress community got into it… went down the drain in 1 year. Pay to play… and POGO does earn them more, so lets forget about the old rules… let the money rule
