I ran out of things to review

im relatively new to wayfarer and i ran out of things to review, is this normal?

edit: thanks everyone gor helping, the wayfarer community is so nice

Do you have a home and bonus location set? If so, where?

When you log into Wayfarer, what are you seeing on the “featured” page? If you see “Cupid’s Span” (see below), you may have an issue with your location.

yeah i do see that, how do i fix it?

Click on Settings, and there will be both a home and bonus location you can set there.

Do you have a game like ingress linked to your account that you haven’t logged intoin a while?

These have no effect on the “Cupid Span” issue.

Hello @mqnstxr

If you are seeing the Cupids span picture in showcase it is the default picture when something has gone wrong and Wayfarer can’t tell where you are located.
Try opening up and briefly playing Niantic games - it is often that Ingress has become confused.
Try that and logging in and out of wayfarer. If it doesn’t work straightaway give it a little time and try again.

For those who have never experienced this, we call this being Cupid Spanned. It’s a niche situation Wayfinders have coined a term for.

I see that your Hometown and Bonus locations are set to the same locality. That may not be a good idea. Please let me know if you wish to change your Bonus Location.

Interesting, I see Cupid’s Span frequently when I log in to review. I do at least a few things in Ingress every day too, usually at a couple different times of the day. I just now opened Ingress, then logged in to Wayfarer and got Cupid’s Span.

Seeing Cupid Span is typically because you’ve lost your “local” reviewing area. The very first time it happened to me was because I was in a low cell phone signal area - Ingress made it to the loading screen but couldn’t fully log me in. The server knew to reset my location but not where to put me.

You could be experiencing something like that. It also doesn’t help that it may take a few hours to update, but it may also take only a few minutes.

It can also happen if your area has nothing to feature. That doesn’t come with the same perks as your location being lost.

I made this post recently.

You have 4 “review pools” that, if you want a continuous supply of reviews, you should be careful not to overlap them.

  • Bonus - you can set this location. In theory, this should be a place you’re familiar with, but it practice many people choose a big city to try and help dig it out, a rural area to feel like they’re making a difference, a vacation area, maybe a place they’re going to visit soon or have recently. Or they “trade” with someone. Sometimes staff schedules times for us to reset the bonus area, indicating they aren’t particular about us being “trapped.”
  • Home - this “should” be your home town but it’s very much like an American philosophy where people move away from where they grow up. People practice it similarly to above and there are times staff allows us to reset this location setting.
  • Local - you can’t manually change this. It’s based on where you last played and Ingress takes priority over PokĂ©mon GO - meaning that even though I live in the US and played GO Fest Madrid (Spain) last year Wayfarer didn’t give me Spain nominations until I actually logged into Ingress. Note that “local” might not feel local to you - it’s a fairly big region and the area should be represented on your “featured” page may still be a few hours away.
  • National - this is based on your “local” area. You could end up reviewing anything nominated within your country and sometimes slightly across the border - especially if you live in Europe. Similarly, territory is included so things like US Vırgın Islands or British Vırgın Islands pop up when applicable. The national pool includes Upgraded nominations and other nominations prioritized into the system.

I had a really nice explanation of this written up on the old Wayforum. It was archived and could be found, but I think some of it may be inaccurate, now, since I reference review regions and being able to review edits has changed that dynamic.

Please  reality check me if I got something wrong, above.

Your Home, Bonus, and usual-place-of-play should all be 200 miles or so apart. Otherwise they overlap and you’ll get fewer things to review.

NiantidAaron offered to let you change yours - that’s a treat! Not everyone gets that. I urge you to take him up on it.

EDIT: Your Home location should be somewhere you know well, but do not live. Maybe you were born there, or learned to drive there, or you have family there so you visit often.
Your Bonus area can be anywhere you wish to explore (or help) in this way.
Theoretically you’ll get more from your Home than Bonus, because you know it better. But all things are not equal - maybe your Bonus location needs more help, so you’ll see more there.

yes please, thanks
