I think my library is a dead zone?

Ok so I’ve been playing since pretty much day 1 and working at the same library since then. In 2017 I reached out to Niantic to let them know our library was being demolished and rebuilt on the same site. We didn’t want anyone to fall into the construction pit. Well despite COVID and with many delays, we moved into our brand new building in June. But nothing spawns here now. Ever. Our new address is the same as our old, and I wonder if we’re not still on some blacklist somewhere. How would I go about trying to figure that out?

It sounds likely that they geo-fenced the location when it was reported before.

I think you may need to provide coordinates or the name or street address of the library. Then Niantic staff can confirm or deny if the blackout exists.

You may need to provide GPS photos or a link to an official website or publication that confirms the new building is a library, and if the geo-fence was created in response to an official request you may need official letterhead or correspondence directly from an official to request the fence be removed.

This should all be doable.

If you would rather not share the location publicly here on the forum, you should be able to use the same form you used to report the construction to report that it is finished. The “Wayspot Removals” link at the top here is also for modifications:

Pokémon Go uses open Street Map (OSM) data. Areas that are tagged as under construction on OSM do not spawn. I think this is a possibility for your case.
The data is only updated every now and then - no regular pattern but it can be years.
So I would check on OSM what yours is tagged as - hopefully it has been updated. In which case you just have to hope it was done in Time for the next update.
