I would like an opinion 3

(I always use Google Translate, so sorry for the English) I made this request (I know the photo isn’t very nice, I’ll definitely have to improve it) and the evaluators rejected it, so I asked for an appeal. Since English isn’t my first language, I translated with Google Translate what the appeal response told me. Correct me if I’m wrong, they didn’t promote it because it’s a ONLUS (that’s what they say in Italy, I don’t know about the rest of the world), so a non-profit association???
I mean, from what I understand, these organizations are no longer valid. Thank you very much for anyone who will respond and give me an opinion.

This appears to have fallen foul of the appeal review process and the standard templates they use. The appeal reviewer decided to stick with the initial decision and reject the submission, because they couldn’t see an obvious reason overturn, so then had to pick a reason for rejecting. They went for not meeting criteria and plugged in “Non-profit Organization”, resulting in an unhelpful explanation.

Something being an NGO does not mean it immediately becomes not eligible. It looks like reviewers couldn’t see enough in this to accept it, but I can imagine it being accepted.

I think the closest submission I’ve made to this is this one. It’s a community run food shop which sells local produce including some grown by people with disabilities who help run a local farm as work experience. They do a lot of low packaging items and organic produce and its just an all round really cool shop. The staff are part owners and they are all really helpful and passionate about it. Probably this kind of local place would be best off reviewed by the local reviewer pool than by staff.

Thanks to both of you, unless an administrator reads this post—which I’ve been told is very difficult—and reverses the outcome because, in my opinion, it’s completely wrong. I’ll resubmit the request. Thanks again.

How does this meet criteria for being a great place to explore, a great place to exercise, or a great place to socialize?

13 posts were split to a new topic: Graffiti, murals, art where do you draw the line

I have never been to a non-profit place but I think it falls into the category of a good place to socialize

It’s certainly common in the U.K. that non-profit or local cooperative run places offer an element of socialisation but are also a distinctive place to go (exploration). They often offer specialised advice, have information available and are a key part of the community.

Yeah I agree with this - something that gives back to the community in some way ie training staff to give them life/job skills, supporting charities who produce products by selling them in the store, or being a place where people can go for advice to me links really strongly to explore.

I think the point I was making with my first reply was lost. I do not know what they do at this specific location that would meet the criteria for a great place to explore or socialize.

Several people have responded on this specific point and said that a co-operative store that gives back to the community (not to be confused with the Co-operative supermarket chain in the UK) is an worth submission as it meets both social and exploration criteria.

It is certainly the case that people will seek out these stores and go there specifically because of the co-operative element and also the community involvement is definitely social.

They replied with generalizations based on similar locations they have seen in their own country. My point was to have the OP, in their own words, explain how their nomination meets such criteria. What does the specific location the OP is nominating do that would make it a great place to explore or socialize.

In this case, the association helps ex-prisoners or people who risked ending up in prison with their lives, find a job, etc., without asking for money.

I’m afraid I don’t see how any of that meets criteria for being a great place to explore or socialize and would reject. Again I have emphasized the word GREAT because I do not believe it meets that bar.

Different opinions. For me, this nonprofit helps the community and makes a difference for many people. It helps marginalized people integrate into the real world.

Well you did ask for an opinion.

I think we have all moved on from the art/graffiti discussion and mostly agree that it isn’t the right angle here

I don’t believe the original supporting text was shared?

I also would like to point out that at this time, it’s been community rejected and staff appeals rejected so it’s not just a minor opinion against the nomination. Wayforum members can certainly help improve the nomination for the candidate, but reiterating that it’s “different opinions” isn’t helpful in formulating an argument for approval.

Sorry, we actually changed the subject, and I apologize. I got the opinions based on the content of the text. I didn’t show it in the end, but I mentioned it in previous posts. It’s a nonprofit organization that helps former prisoners and people who risked prison time to rebuild their lives. As the author of the post, I think it’s okay to end it here. Thanks everyone.
