Description :
Plaques commemorating the Floch brothers. Resistance fighters during the Second World War and posthumous knights of the Legion of Honour.
I don’t understand what’s wrong ?
This spot isn’t a private family residential property. Everyone Can go there. The wall abuts the street. This plaque was erected by the town hall in tribute to two World War II resistance fighters born in the village. It’s public property.
If this building is a single family private residential property (SFPRP) dwelling, then even something on the outer wall is not permitted:
(If you believe the appeals reviewers have made a mistake and would like to give the gps coordinates of the location, we can have a look and see what it looks like to others here.)
So if I understand, nothing Can be submited if it’s on the house of someone, even if it’s in a public Space ?
How Can I do ? I’m living in a rural small town and every plaques or signs is in a "SFPRP’ i guess ?
Every street signs (even if they are not eligible), every historical plaque
This is the location:
Si I suppose that this historical plaque will not be also eligible ?
yes, some places just do not have many eligible locations.
that circled plaque looks like it is on a business to me, which would be an eligible location, but this is not a part of the world i am familiar with. i will leave this for someone else to help clarify for you there. we have people from all over the world on this forum!
Nice town @NilamTacos I suppose you have hit up all the obvious POIS such as. The Church – looks like it would contain quite a few POIs, war memorial in front, the neat garden with sculpture the other side. Has a statue stuck on the wall near the neat garden. Basketball courts, is that a BMX track near it (entrance off Rue Neuve). You have bars, cafes, restaurants, playing fields two with an interesting “arch” sign at the entrance ((the fields next to Rue du Moustoir), war memorial Abbé Jean-Marie Guillou which has a small park with playground and two picnic tables, murals (if different they will make multiple POIs). And as Cyndipooh said any plaque on a business/government building.
I guess what I am saying go for every low hanging fruit you have. IE - the easy picks.
I really appreciate your involvement in finding PoI thank you!
Yes most of the ones you mention are pokestops. I still have a few ideas: the fresco on the playground, the post office
The cafés in my village are pretty generic in France: “bar / PMU” I didn’t know if they were eligible even if they have a différent name
My neighborhood is completely devoid of pokestops and there’s nothing very striking. I had a few ideas that were rejected. Do you have any ideas on how to make them stand out?
This house number is handmade, and therefore unique, but I suppose it doesn’t fit the criteria as it’s on private property?
There’s also this alley that’s appreciated by the neighborhood, completely pedestrianized and planted with trees and benches. It leads to the media library, which is an important part of village life
But there is no signs so i don’tkmow how to make it eligible
Finally, there’s this old well that I discovered while wandering around and whose structure I find pretty, but which has been rejected by the AI. Is there any way it could claim to be added?
Thanks for your help!
It’s quite discouraging and frustrating to see your proposals turned down when you’re trying to liven up rural life a bit, but that’s the game. With time I’ll probably get there.
Your submission photo was too zoomed in on thw grate.
You will want to do some research about the well or just wells in general. How did life in your town revolve around the well? Was it a gathering spot for people? I’m sure there are internet articles which will explain this.
they provide insights into what works and how to nominate. Never refer to them in description only supporting. But for you parks, benches, buildings (this one is important as your church may have several nominations on and in it. Read everything you can on your church- history architecture etc etc). Do you have registered buildings (Architecture & Patrimoine, architecture section) as there are two types of some 44,000 (inscrits and classés) listed buildings spaces in France. ((fun fact - France hase some 300,000 classified movable objects))… Going to sound weird - anyone super famous/historic from the past buried in the cemetery (read the criteria on this very carefully)
Also check if you have local listings… Many countries have both national registers and local registers. And locally registration is as important.
Don’t worry about the pubs/cafes. What matters is they exist. They are accessible to all. The provide local focal points to socialise.
When you nominate. Take time. Take photos, edit and crop to be 4X4. Choose good visuals. When you go to nominate. Select from gallery. Provide good basic text.Do not upload at once. Select upload later. Go home log into wayfarer. Now upload. Then grab them and put on hold. Now research. Add the text you want to. (you can of course prepare earlier and just have on phone ready to copy in). I edit all mine later. You have time. So use it - use the good blue sky days, sunrises, sunsets to help photos.
FYI Local rural areas are important to Niantic. and what may not work in the city may pass in a country town. ((NOT private residences though)). So you may be surprised by your cafe/pubs
In supporting always select one of the three key criteria. IE Great place to explore. then provide your additional information why.
Don’t hesitate to use the nomination support. Place your finished nomination in this forum. And see what the global community says… I find and have found it very very helpful
