Incorrect Appeal Decision: A "Neighborhood Sign" Without a Neighborhood?

Is it a neighborhood sign if there is no neighborhood? And on a university campus in a non-residential area?

This nomination was recently rejected by Niantic reviewers on appeal for being a generic neighborhood sign. Of course, I also received the boilerplate exhortation to review the criteria before making further nominations. I believe Niantic reviewers made an incorrect decision.

The nomination in question is an entrance or place name sign for an athletic facility on a university campus. It is not a neighborhood sign. It is not in a residential area – no “neighborhood” there. At a minimum it should qualify under socialization and exercise criteria.

It was originally rejected for unsafe pedestrian access, and temporary/non-permanent (which we know is meant to be not distinct). My contributions page now shows it being rejected for generic business.

I ask that staff please reconsider the decision of the Niantic reviewers and reverse this rejection. Perhaps also instruct reviewers that you can’t have a neighborhood sign without a neighborhood, and actually look at the images (primary, supporting, satellite, street view, and map view) provided.

I guess we can take it as a bright spot that appeals reviewers reject neighborhood signs now?

Thank you.
