Help with Nomination

Hi, I feel that this stop is a great addition to niantic games but it seems the community did not agree. I will take any advice anyone is willing to give me

This is a generic neighbourhood entrance sign which doesn’t really meet the criteria of a great place to socialise, exercise or explore.

If there are trails in the area as your info hints at, and they’ve got markers associated with them, those might be good to nominate.

I am struggling to see how this meets the criteria. As stated, it’s a new community, so for me the sign / block doesn’t represent (to me) anything significant. I know some people could say these should be acceptable, but I am not convinced that this one in particular would be acceptable.

Do you have a Church, Post Office, etc. available that you could submit?

So i got the inspiration from this waystop near my work which kinda met the same criteria

Hi, I’m afraid the majority of neighborhood signs just don’t meet any criteria. Also I would avoid misrepresenting neighborhood signs as trailheads or monuments if that’s not what they are, that increases the probability of rejection.

Sadly existing wayspots are neither evidence of criteria, nor examples of things that you should submit, nor recommended sources of inspiration. We don’t know when and how they were approved, and whether they are correct. I would start by reading eligibility criteria in the corresponding tab on your Wayfarer page instead, that might make it clearer.

Ugh. That is my nomination.

I thought this was an impressive work of art, and it is at the entrance to a business center, not just a neighborhood sign. I need to edit that description to make clear that this is different from a neighborhood sign.

Waits for Niantic to remove it from all the games

That is fine with me. I haven’t been to Durham since 2020 when I submitted this

If I were submitting it today, I would submit it as the Imperial Center rather than as the art work. But it is impressive.

So wait, does this sign represent only the name of the community/neighbourhood, or is it a trail marker?

That is a standard builder’s marker in our area.

If it’s just a builder’s marker then it won’t be accepted. I personally would accept those, however community won’t. I hope you can find some more POI that you can nominate in your neighbourhood.

I’m sure you know, but to be clear it is not yours I am saying is misrepresenting, we have no context or information about yours, nor any reason to believe it is being misrepresented (or correctly represented, for that matter). The “real world examples are not good examples” is a standard bit. If someone (in this context you) submitted a monument, all the power to them, but it doesn’t automatically mean we should call whatever else we are submitting a monument

Oh absolutely agree, as you know, but even if comparing to existing Wayspots were not a bad idea, I don’t believe these things are comparable, and wanted to point that out.

Absolutely, thanks for posting what it actually was!

(Wayfarer is a very small world)
