I was nominating a community sign in my neighborhood. Literally every other neighborhood with the name of its community is a Pokéstop. I though, why not my community? But I got denied. Idk what I have to do, but any advice or speculation on the reason why my community sign is denied?

Hi, welcome to the forum

Community signs can be approved, but they are not slam dunk nominations. Personally I usually reject most of them, as they usually don’t meet the acceptance criteria (unless the sign itself is really nice). For me it is just basic street infrastructure.

Having said that, reviewers seem to differ from opinion. So if you are lucky, it may get accepted, you can always try again, or appeal, it will help if you can explain why you feel it meets acceptance criteria.

Hey there @oVotosb Can you post your nomination? We as a community can give you some feedback on ways you can improve the nomination and see if it’s eligible.
Remember, just because something is on the map and in the game, that doesn’t mean something else can be or should be.

Hello and Welcome,

Ignoring what you have seen in the game can you explain what make the sign meet one of the main criteria that it must be a great place to socialise, exercise or explore.

Not that you can do any of those things there but the waypoint encourages it.

Good luck.

There are a few ways that community signs get rejected.

One, if there is no clear seperation of the sign and somones home, it can get rejected for being on Private residential property.

Two, if the sign is in the middle of the street with no safe pedestrian access. You need to be able to stand there for a prolonged period of time without being in danger.

Three, and the most subjective, some reviewers like the to be more than just a sign, ie a fountain, or something more decorative than just a rock with a name on it.

If you would like to share your nomination the community might be able to give some tips if it’s eligible.

Have you tried appealing your nomination?

Many of us do not believe that a neighborhood sign in general meets any of the acceptance criteria. They simply mark real estate a builder has offered for sale, imo. We have talked about these at length on the forum, if you care to do any searching. There are exceptions with artistic, historic, or social value, and this makes it even harder to understand which would be good wayspots. Here is a link that spells out criteria: Wayspot Criteria — Wayfarer Help Center

I think many of these that are on the game board were incorrectly accepted by the “automated process” when the machine learning model was able to accept nominations without any human input. That ability was taken offline, and it has not been reported as being reinstated. I believe that many reviewers and submitters who see these in game assume they must be eligible since they see them, but just being live in game does not prove they should be accepted.

I have begged Niantic to make a clarification on these, but they have ignored those requests, not commenting either way.
