Hi everyone,
I’m here again to have a support for this type of POI that i don’t understand if it’s good or not: Infopoints.
In the first photo there’s a rejected one with the reason “not permanent” which is not true in my opinion because there’s a sign on top of that with the official approval of the region and the local town hall. In the second photo you can see an example of that sign.
My doubt about this type of POI increase because i got approved many times especially after my recent appeals with the support (third photo), but in the last weeks i always get rejection even though there’s the region approval sign.
Hello and welcome to the community
Glad you have found us🤗
There is a difference in the nominations provided by you. The first is indeed a sign, but this is intended for advertising only a specific thing. Therefore I would not see how this meets the core criteria of
A great place to be social
A great place to explore
A great place to excercise.
The second nomination provided is clear example of a community info board. This can provide information about multiple things important in the community and therefore is acceptable under “a great place to explore”.
Info signs are mostly accepted, especially when they provide important information about a significant object.
Hi and thanks for replying.
This isn’t just a commercial because on the bus stop there’s the other advertises like commemorative and local area adv, but probably bus stop will be rejected.
The place is perfect for excercise because in that area there’s sidewalks in both sides and green areas near this place besides there’s a bus stop so it’s a good place for socializing.
The second nomination is the perfect example of many rejection i got in the last few days but they’re a correct submition, right?
So, if i get rejected on something like the second one it’s a reviewer fault, right?
EDIT: first and second submition are like the same thing, in the second one there’s every type of infopoints but in the first one there’s only one of them (which is not really true, just like i’ve wrote up there). So, everything in the same place is correct but specific alone not?
I’d love to help more later, but I try not to look at anything as “reviewer fault” (unless it’s those silly reviewers who reject my nominations ) and I do tend to think everyone is doing their best and like to assume reviewing in good faith. I also don’t like the blame to get shifted to a submitter, either.
“Why did my nomination fail and how can I better convey it and other nominations going forward? What did reviewers fail to see that I have.”
I think it’s also important to remember that many candidates are on different ranges and sometimes somebody may not vote on the same thing the same way. Sometimes it really is the “luck of the draw.”
Luckily, there are a lot of people here who can help peer review and make improvements when necessary and sometimes move on as the case sometimes will be.
Oh yea, of course this is not blaming about reviewers. if is this sounds like, im sorry about that.
I just want to understand if im submiting something wrong or not, because sometimes this type of situation (where sometimes is not clear if it’s a right sub or not) confusing me.
I think the best way is try again and ill get the approval (or wait the appeal try)
i see three photos. the first one just looks like a billboard advertising something to me. can you explain what it is?
the last one looks like the kind of information board that promotes social engagment with the community, and the kind i would consider eligible.
i am not sure what the second photo is.
First photo is regional approved advertising/information sign which is near a bus stop where there’s another info board inside of that.
Second photo is the sign of the region and country approval of this type of signs, because i got rejections on POI like the third photo. So, my post is to understand if my submissions are correct or not (and in part im right)
EDIT:
Like in this submission i got rejected:
As far as I can see, the advertising sign would not promote any of the three acceptance criteria: exercise, exploration, or being social. I can see a case where the other kind might.
I’ll be more precise: in the approved one (third photo), the POI was accepted by the support after my appeal, so in the first moment it was rejected.
Thats why im confused about the situation.
oh reviewers may not understand. all you can control is what you submit and what you choose to appeal. you can make the case in your supporting section on how you believe this meets criteria, and hopefully this will help the eligible ones be accepted. but incorrect rejections happen, and are the reason they started giving us appeals.
Yea, now i understood and i’ll try to resubmit where are correct eligible spots. Thanks for the help.
Something that can make information boards eligible is the socializing and exploration they can encourage. Community notice boards are used for peer to peer communication networking. Even advert boards can be used to support local business exploration and events.
Strictly sales adverts and business directories do not meet criteria.
OP do not take: “A great place to be social, A great place to explore, A great place to exercise.” as stand-alone advice. It is not enough. It creates too much bias. What it means to you might mean something else to the person who told you or the person you will tell in the future. You have to look at Niantic’s definition of those terms:
What is your point with this? I don’t see it.
Thanks, this is a helpfull tip
It is to provide clarity to whenever someone goes “great this great that” without ever mentioning Niantic’s explanation of those terms.
Then please clarify for the OP how they should explain that these items meet criteria. I think @Gendgi 's post did.
After reading through it, that post actually did not help. Since the problem was the first sign, yet that post was going on about the already accepted community boards.
But per your request, I am happy to fill in when the regular and alum face a road block
OP, as you say the “not permanent” rejection was applied wrongly here, don’t take it heart, it happens.
Regarding on the eligibility of that post, it requires further digging and creative application of the criteria. That company on that board has an initiative that invites students to their factory, to prevent “social isolation” which is impactful to the local community.
Combating “social isolation”, is that not the same ideals for wayfarer and Pokémon go? OP I think you should do a little more research on the company to get a fuller grasp on their social endeavors and empathizes them when you resubmit.
Good luck
How does this advertisement placed here combat social isolation?
I did ask the OP to explain the sign to me, and I did not get that from their answer.
Yea, one of my doubts was for “not permanent” rejection which is kind a lie for infopoints, because looking for past approved and last rejection there’s no differeces. All answers have helped me so not a big problem.
Regarding the company on the board i think it’s just an adv to search more people to work on local place here, so i understand the rejection here and i don’t think it’s something to prevent social isolation as you wrote (i can try with that reason, but i don’t think it’s ok).
