Ingress Last Sync - Discussion

Yeah, hare to tell if it’s a person or an AI, since the emails say “our team.” Interestingly, I submitted a title and description edit for one portal, and only the title edit was decided on.

I’ve still been “double dipping” and getting a few more Edit approvals from Recon.

Still waiting on when I finally get one about a new Wayspot approval so there’s the first new Portal on the map in 3 months.

I’ll race you. I’ve submitted an Ingress portal for every day since submissions were allowed again. It’s tedious doing everything twice and it makes it harder in the field since “edit later” isn’t an option, but I don’t like wasting submission slots.

I don’t think I’ve done one every day, but multiple on some days out etc.

I still have three that I’ve put as ON HOLD in my nominations to be Uploaded Later’d when I can edit them as they are just garbled info and would be rejected.

There’s a cute frog sculpture that I have already gotten approved in PGO. It is in a new construction area, so it was kinda hard to locate when I was submitting it. I did my absolute best to make the location accurate with the tools I have available. I would like to submit it to Ingress as well, but I’m going to wait until I can see it better on the map and satellite. I don’t think anyone in that area is adding new stuff to Recon at this point, so I’m not racing anyone else. There are people submitting to PGO in that area, so I felt like I needed to get it in first. Many people don’t work as hard to get placement right in new areas.

I don’t mean a submission on each day, but one /for/ every day.

I did my first 2 new submission for Ingress last week. Both have been approved by the Wayfarer community, and being they’re in an area I visit from time to time, I thought I’d submit while there instead of waiting.

Now, this is an area that isn’t very active in Ingress, but still doesn’t hurt!

I had some random edit rejections from June today, something seems to be happening. Annoying to have them rejected though..

Edits, removals etc are being reviewed by Niantic Spatial staff. It’s only portal submissions [and photos and location] that are on hold.

Yeah title and description edits seem to be getting reviewed (maybe by the summer interns?) but I haven’t seen a decision on Photos, Location or a new Wayspot yet.

Same. All of the photos I’ve taken and had approved since the last sync for Wayfarer are still waiting with Recon, as well as the location edits. The photos aren’t even that big of a difference from what’s already there, just some that are a little clearer and possibly a better resolution.

I do find the title edits to be interesting, as the universities in my area all tend to have the abbreviations for them in the titles and descriptions. I’ve had title edit rejections at 2 of the 3 4 year universities when trying to remove the abbreviations, as those are in the title, and I’d think most would know that they are campus buildings if they were there. The other university doesn’t have most of their buildings named this way, so if I do suggest a title edit without the abbreviation, it tends to get accepted.

I’ve had a good number of these title edits accepted by the community before the split at one of the universities, so it’s a little funny that it’s hit or miss. I’m just glad that the memorial union at one of them is no longer CMU, but the full name, Comstock Memorial Union now in Ingress. Yes, we call it CMU for short, but it’s not the official name.

I’ve noticed this too, that longer titles seem to be preferred.

A few more double submits this week.

I also got to an area where it was clear whoever submitted was just playing Pokémon GO. They hadn’t submitted some obvious candidates like the play area and (a non-EIIR) postbox.

Some things are misaligned there too (I assume for cell placement) so I’ll submit some location edits for it to be correct when I next visit for Recon and Wayfarer.

To add here, the Ingress team noted their new system should launch later this year.

Is that an improvement on the rolling “in three months” timescale that never arrives.. it is at least a firmer deadline (but with a strong caveat).

Thanks for posting

Maybe they’ll start making some decisions on submissions other than titles and descriptions soon.

I hope so. I got a nice Community Garden added on Pokémon GO a while ago, and I really want to see it on Ingress too.

I’ve been working on creating a 41-mile long banner mission, I’d quite like to give it a go except the darned portals are stuck in the queue.

Soon™️
