I did all that work to get to Level 10, sigh…
Will these new submitters be better informed than previously? More “but I see it as a portal” incoming nominations.
Lvl 8 is NOT challenging, it can be reached within an hour or faster. Even in not that super dense city areas.
For every lvl above that you need extra badges, which requires at least some work and maybe makes you contact your local community if youre a new player.
And a good contact to your community usually keeps you in the game. Not endless grinding and tasks.
In my eyes this will probably lead to more more secondary accounts and spoofers .
Multi Accounting in Wayfarer has never been easier than now
That may be true for some. But it highly depends on where you are playing and your play style. And how knowledgeable you are about the game.
and more accounts to report which I don’t get the point about mentioning it
I assume you are vastly improving the messaging and education to aid the influx of new inexperienced wayfarers? I cant imagine this working out well without some major improvements to the system, and within the games alongside this.
well, if you dont know what you’re doing, maybe you should not be eligibile to submit new Wayspots, right?
But im sure there will soon be more nice wayspots on PRP and schools which all are called “playground” or “mural” because that makes them so unique.
Nominating Wayspots is very different from playing Ingress. So I’m not sure what your point is?
I am fine with holding Niantic to better wayfarer education. Even advocate for going back to the test. But taking away from a player base is just so confusing to me.
Tangent to mentioning the test…At one point before the revamped review system it seemed like there were occasionally obvious rejects mixed in with submissions. I don’t know if those were player submitted or part of the wayfarer system to make sure reviewers were doing a good job but I’ve wondered if that type of thing would be beneficial. Niantic grabs some old submissions and occasionally throws them out to the community as a sort of test and either provides immediate feedback for everyone or just if your review doesn’t align with wayfarer expectations.
May not be the best idea, just thought I’d throw it out there
It is highly believed that Niantic uses Honeypots just as you have suggested. This may be a reason why your Reviewer level may decrease from time to time (assuming you vote wrong).
Since I have hit level 16 twice can my votes count 4x as much?
And I’m level 50 in PoGo so, 5x?
Personally I’m grateful for this. I’ve already passed the wayfarer test (back when the test actually was a thing), so to me it makes sense that I should have access to the wayfarer features in both games. I can now submit edits to things I previously couldn’t - getting to level 10 in my local area as a solo player just isn’t happening, as the opposite faction are nice people, but far too possessive when it comes to local portals, and they have a major advantage when it comes to both inventory and amount of players haha. I also have twice as many submissions if I find myself in an area with things that need submitting.
I do understand why some people may be concerned by this, and those concerns may well be justified, but I personally plan on using my extra contributions to improve things, and I hope that goes for the majority of people who will now find themselves eligible.
Don’t forget to update the Ingress Handbook! Looking up Nominations still says you need to be level 10 to participate in Wayfarer through Ingress.
While we’re at it. Why not enable directly from Lv 1… If it’s because it costs so much, it’s better to do it right once and for all
Maybe I’ll think about playing Ingress now…Maybe…
I will say, it does seem that many of the newer Wayfinders as of late have been coming from PoGo, so this might help give Ingress a little boost. I get tired of telling new submitters that they aren’t submitting stops/gyms; maybe I’ll get tired of telling people they aren’t submitting portals.
I don’t know why, but I think you might really like Ingress. I think you should try it
While you are at this, can you also update acceptance and eligibility criteria to say “Everything goes as long as it’s in a safe location, not on school or private residential property, not a human or animal or body part, and is permanent”? Because this is pretty much how things are now, and it’s only gonna get worse, so we might as well abandon current criteria. And yes, what @lLinuxl said - just do it from Level 1 to fully embrace the chaos.
As usual the knee-jerk reaction of Ingress agents has spoken, acting like the difference from level 10 is any different. Edits can be done at level 8. The Seer badge has been retired long ago. OPR is not anything but a name for a badge. Let it go.
