I’m luckier - I know of at least one other person, since they asked in a TG chat about the eligibility of the benches they were getting in review.
Some people will get into it. There’s two badges and most Ingress agents love badges ![]()

Three?
I forgot that one, because there are no OPR challenges at the moment, so it isn’t a draw since no-one can work towards it. Two should be enough ![]()
It’s a draw for me that there might be one in the future.

One day. One day.
Agreements are at 28%, I guess much of the rest are still in voting.
Compare this to Wayfarer and it gets interesting. I’ve been recording my stats for about a year since we had the weird rating issues. In the past 12 months or so, my Wayfarer agreement stats show 37% accept and 63% reject, compared to Recon where it’s 71% accept and 29% reject. It might be that the accepts are showing artificially high in Recon because the “easy accepts” are getting approved first, but I do feel there’s less crud in Recon overall.
As for my own stats, out of 147 nominations made I’ve seen a total of 14 decisions, of which 13 were accept and one rejection. That’s a shade less than 10% of the ones I submitted.
Nice spot about the acceptance/rejection ratio on the agreements. My long-term ratio on Wayfarer is 3:5, while the short-term on on OPR is 5:3, which is (proportionally) twice as many acceptances as in Wayfarer.
Also, no garbage, so either there is an ML system operating or the standard of submissions is very high in comparison. (Just some very lazy narratives, presumably because of being forced to do everything on phone screens with no editing later.)
I don’t know why, but it takes a considerable amount of time from submitting a portal request to its In Queue.
And since the time between In Queue and the start of the review process is quite short, it probably couldn’t be put on hold.
I think a lot of the minimal narratives are from when submissions couldn’t be put on hold since we were uploading into the ether while OPR was offline. Everything had to be ready for review.
Yeah, you do have to make sure that the submission is review ready. You can place it on hold once you get the confirmation email but that can be hours later.
Tip for Recon team if they are reading this forum:
I’m 99.9% certain the Recon team is not reading this forum.
Agree with SeaPrincess. You’re better posting on r/Ingress or raising a ticket.
As a FYI, it seems all the Recon help pages are gone - https://nianticspatial.helpshift.com/hc/en/8-recon/
Do I get it right that now after OPR is active Wayfarer does not affect the Recon Ingress medal in no way?
That has been the case since the Pokemon Go/Ingress split in May 2025. From that point, wayfarer activity has had nothing to do with Ingress/OPR/Recon. The only connection is people who use both wayfarer and Ingress, which is why this thread has stayed active.
It is only recently that OPR/Recon has been brought back online.
I was just hunting for something on OPR and noticed the help pages, accessed from the Help icon down the left hand side, are all copied direct from the wayfarer system without anything being changed. Including “Niantic”, “Wayfarer”, “Wayspot” and “Pokemon Go”.
It does say (C) Niantic Spatial at the bottom though, so that’s OK ![]()
@spytfear they are leaving this topic up for recon discussion since the opr site is very much still a work in progress and there isn’t a community yet. wanted to point you to here in case you need help.
I don’t think that’s why this thread has been left up. I think it’s just one of those kind of hanging on. As for community, the Ingress help pages (before being moved) said to use r/Ingress and say this also in their forum closure post:
How can I share my feedback with Niantic?
The team actively monitors various Agent communities across platforms including, but not limited to in-App support, /r/Ingress, X, and numerous Telegram communities. The Ingress team is also looking at ways it can engage with the community regularly such as hosting AMAs on reddit, Dev Diaries, and more.
Given this, I don’t expect a newly created forum or community from the Ingress team for Recon/OPR but there is r/NianticSpatialRecon as well as few older OPR ones.
Ingress/Niantic Spatial have noted where they expect feedback to be shared, this is just a small surviving collective of Wayfarers that also do Recon following the final Ingress sync to Wayfarer.
How long the thread lasts, I don’t know. Maybe activity will slowly diminish and it’ll naturally “close” due to inactivity
put my period in the wrong place. what i thought i said was

There are also a good deal of us that aren’t on social media, so we might not get updates if they aren’t posted in-game, and it’s possible that this is being kept open for those of us in that group. I mean, you posted the update that OPR was opening for reviewing before it was posted in-game, so I was bummed here before in-game.
I understand that, but it would be like me posting something here about Jurassic World Alive’s map system.
It’s another AR game’s map system (which I don’t think you can contribute to, but stick with me in the explanation) but isn’t linked to Wayfarer in any way.
So I get people that may call for this topic to be closed at some point.
The Ingress team could have set up a new Discourse forum at the same time as Wayfarer, Pikmin Bloom and Monster Hunter Now but chose not to, and to close their forums (as well as let their Community Specialist go, who I understand was mostly answering support tickets anyways at the end) and to rely on third party social media for feedback and discussions.
