Ingress submissions are not showing up on the Wayfarer website

I created two submission and chose to “upload later”. I submitted them and I have received the email notifications 30 minutes ago but the submissions are not showing up on Niantic Wayfarer

I very often just enter gibberish or very short placeholder-text when I upload and I then put them on hold while I edit them. The last time this happened the submission didn’t show up untill after it had been through review, marked as abuse and I got a strike on my account.

I’ve used this workflow for years as I hate typing things on the phone and much prefer doing it from my computer. This also means I can do more background research and provide much better descriptions than I can do from out in the field and also double check that I am not submitting something that shouldn’t be submitted before I take them off hold. Do I have to stop doing that now?

I’m submitting from Ingress.

Ingress is no longer connected to wayfarer. Your submissions go to Niantic Spatial instead.

This isn’t a bug. Ingress nominations go to Recon now, not Wayfarer since the split.

Currently you cannot log in to Recon but it will be here - Recon | Niantic Spatial, Inc.

Nominations from Pokémon GO will go into Wayfarer but those once accepted will not show on Ingress.

Similarly, anything approved in Recon will not show up on Pokémon GO

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of that, haven’t played much this winter and spring.

Guess I’ll be eating another strike then.

Possibly a rejection or two, but I doubt you’d get a strike. People understand placeholder text.

I don’t think it would be a strike. I imagine many are in a similar position.

In Ingress, you can also submit nominations up to some distance from where you currently are (I forget the exact distance, something like 20km?).

So you can take photos that you want to use (including multiple supporting images), go home, do your write up there, and submit that way.

It also gives you a chance to select from multiple images that you took to find one you like the best, minor edits like cropping, etc.

I happen to use Google Keep to edit the text on my computer, then on my phone, copy and paste it from Keep to Ingress. Though any note taking app that syncs across devices will work.

Similarly, I happen to use Google Photos to sync my images from phone to desktop for review and edits, but any app will do.

I often also take multiple photos to from different view points so that when it does go live, I have more to upload for the spot. Some close ups, some further away, etc.

I would be doing this if there was a better way of placing the marker, e.g. by entering exact coordinates from a geotagged image.

I rarely bother submitting POIs from cities where you can easily work out the location from the satellite layer. I enjoy the long hikes to hidden cairns, forgotten war memorial sites and mountain peaks. It’s not always easy to figure out where the marker goes when placing those and sometimes I am much further away than the submission distance when I get around to a computer.

Armed with this new information I guess I need to submit things in both PoGo and Ingress, and I need to add at least a minimal functional title and description in case I don’t get a chance to edit it before it goes into review. Not loving this new workflow to be honest but I guess it is what it is.
