This small owl statue is a mass-produced movable object for the purpose of scaring away rodents and other birds. Similar statues can be seen quite often in Los Angeles. There is nothing special about it.

Here’s the photo of the wayspot:

You can see on the photo that the owl is on the right side of the small gap. On this streetview the owl is on the left side of the small gap:

This alone is enough to remove this wayspot (which shouldn’t have been approved to begin with).

When I was in the area last week, I recorded this video which shows the owl is not there at all:

Maybe it was permanently removed, maybe it was getting cleaned - it’s a movable object, after all.

Please remove the wayspot.

There is nothing that is integrated too much that can’t be removed from Niantic games. If a POI is removed, then its wayspot should be removed, too. If you reported it but got rejected, you can always appeal here.

If you want to give me wayspot’s name and coordinates, I can take a look and see what can be done to remove it. You can send me a private message so that we don’t turn this discussion about one wayspot into a discussion about totally different wayspot.

That is a good question. I had Niantic and ambassadors send me PMs, but I can’t figure how to send a PM to you. Let me see what I can find out.

I added location and name wayspot innlast message and removed the first message so it dont interupt whit yours, think we cant send private message

Here’s a link to a larger zoomable photo of this wayspot.

If you can go to that location, do this:
Find a spot from where wayspot’s photo was taken. Record a video that has the same surroundings (like same buildings and shop names) to show that yes, you really are there, but the POI is gone. I found this streetview, but it’s from 2017. Try to also capture the same surroundings as on that streeview, it should help your case.

If you can borrow someone else’s phone to record a video so that you can also record you phone to show that you are at the wayspot (just like I did with my video), that’s good, too.

Upload the video to Youtube or whatever other service you prefer.

Create an appeal just like I did - here’s the photo of the wayspot, here’s the streetview where it used to be, here’s a video I recorded that shows the same surroundings but there’s no POI.

If it was some special event that is now over, see if you can find any online articles about removal of the knittings. If you find any, add them to appeal thread.

You can message me in one of my threads with a link to your appeal, and I’ll add more info if needed.

For Niantic to reply in forum appeal? Could be several days. Now that you created your appeal, just sit tight till Niantic reads it and responds.

No, there’s nothing you need to do. Someone from Niantic will usually respond with their decision and mark the thread as solved. Threads usually don’t get closed, unless discussions in them get weird.

Thanks for the appeal, @Itsutsume. After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
