Hi experts, 2 months ago I got a 30 day Wayfarer suspension for placing a nomination around 50m off or something like that, and I did it twice in a year. The reason was of course to have them show in Pogo. I know what I did and I accept my punishment. I was unable to login to my Pogo/Wayfarer accounts for 30 days, with a white Wayfarer screen. And now I can log in again just like before.
However, I do not understand how this Wayfarer suspension affected my Pogo account status. Did this suspension give me a strike on my Pogo account, or not?
Yes, I fully understand that Pogo and Wayfarer have 2 different systems. Pogo has a 3 strike system and it is very very hard to get instabanned, and strikes are permanent. Wayfarer has more of an “abuse ladder” where offenses are weighed differently, and offenses can be forgotten after one year.
I contacted support. Wayfarer support says they can’t answer Pogo questions. I posted it on Reddit, and got many answers pointing me to various policy links I mostly knew, none that answer the actual question:
Is a 30 day suspension from Wayfarer side also counted as a permanent strike on my Pogo account?
Yeah, while there are several articles stating different things, how the 2 systems interact is just straight up only implied or open to interpretation.
So it would be helpful for you to have that confirmed by the Team so you can be certain about your situation.
As it is the weekend it may take a while for a response.
Getting a permanent strike would be countering the forgiving nature of Wayfarer in a way. I can’t justify ever touching it again if I have a permanent Pogo strike.
I can however agree that from a Pogo perspective, they don’t want to have players screwing with the main database for benefits in one game, that would surely create all kinds of office politics. So while Wayfarer might forgive it, Pogo may not.
Thank you. So I take it that the answer to the question in the title is “No, a Wayfarer 30 day suspension (white warning screen) has nothing to do with a Pokemon Go strike.”
I am unfortunately not feeling confident with any answer, considering how differing answers I have gotten. The issue is that in the background, for 1/5 of a second before the white Wayfarer 30 day suspension screen showed, the following screen could be seen:
The messages from @NianticAaron read that the strike is from wayfarer, resulting in a suspension for all accounts (Pokemon Go and Wayfarer). The wayfarer strike will lapse after a year.
The strike does not separately exist for Pokemon Go, so the question about whether it lapses there or not is redundant. Only the effect existed for Pokemon Go, not the cause.
(The PoGo suspension notice appears to be generic and doesn’t clarify what happens to violations originating from elsewhere in Niantic. This is understandable, because it would have to be a longer message to accurately reflect all conditions, which would make it too long.)
Ok, so from how I read it, the only Pogo account effect has already been done, and it was only a 1 month inability to log in, and this suspension left no permanent strike mark on my Pogo account. But my Wayfarer status is on thin ice for a year. During which I will only put the absolutely most solid nominations in the book, none “maybe this goes through” at all.
