Hi there. My Pokémon GO and Niantic Wayfarer account have both been suspended for 30 days as a result of mismatched location for a wayspot in relation to its actual location. I have already submitted an appeal, but they’re essentially saying there isn’t anything they can do except wait the 30 full days. Tomorrow is the Global GO Wild area for which I paid for and now I cannot participate because of this. I hadn’t realized at the time when I originally submitted the wayspot in question, that my phones GPS in the game was a bit off causing this mismatched location. I don’t think my account should suffer because of this genuine accident that was out of my control. I want to get this resolved asap so that I can participate in global wild area for which I rightfully paid for with my hard earned money. I do not cheat and I find it unfair that my account is suffering as a result of this unfair treatment. Please I’ll do anything, I just want this suspension to be lifted, and would appreciate any help in the matter.
If you want to provide the details of the submission, community members will be able to comment, but only Niantic can assist. The location of the submission is crucial, so you would need to screenshot the location from the submission receipt email which is underneath the photos. Also provide the photos and title as a minimum, so people can see what the POI is.

A couple of things. From what I can tell, you placed the pin about 60 meters away from where that actual sign is. I can understand GPS drift, but that’s a pretty significant distance.
Given the topography of the maps at the location and the alignment of the hedges in relation to the fence, even with GPS drift, it should have been fairly easy to at least get in the ballpark of the actual location.
That’s not even taking into account that the sign looks like I could walk up to it and rip it down.

This error is around 66 metres which is quite significant. The Ingress map (May 2025) shows nothing in either cell, but it is possible that things have been added since.

I was wondering about the temporary nature of the sign also. I’ve got a printer, laminator and staples at home. I could put a sign identical to this up on a telephone pole in 5 minutes.
But I’m sure the Wayfarer team here will be able to provide a response. Just my own view.
Agreed. I was focussing only on the specific issue that caused the suspension.
Taking a look at Google Maps…
- you are over 60 metres away. GPS is not an excuse as you get the Submission Map and time “in queue” to confirm.
- The correct location would have been in an occupied cell which would have made the waypoint ineligible for Pokemon Go.
- The POI does not look Permanent or Unique.
Only staff could could give more information but IMO the sanction is justified.
Well I understand but, and I appreciate everyone’s input and help, but this still shouldn’t justify my account be suspended for 30 days. I swear it still drifted and I didn’t notice. I do have a disability, and simply wasn’t aware at the time of when it occurred. With all that in consideration, I would like Niantic/Wayfarer team unsuspend my account with this newfound information as I strongly believe this is unfair.
The Wayfarer team can enact Wayfarer and game suspensions for up to ten years if they find the Wayfarer abuse is severe enough.
As a result of my said disability, I find i am being discriminated and punished for something that was an honest mistake. I can assure that this never occur again but I simply just want my account back before tomorrow.
The Green star is where I identified the correct location, it shares a cell with " Boogie Boarding Bus Stop"
I will not be treated by anyone like this and I just want this to be unsuspended as I have said before. I understand if you’re trying to help, but mostly want someone from the appropriate team to go ahead and lift this suspension so I can continue playing. I have played this game everyday for almost 10 years and I will not miss a day
You are not being discriminated when you are being treated the same as everybody else.
I do not understand that if you disability does not stop you from nominated how it could stop you from checking the accuracy.
I am aware that Niantic can jump rungs on the abuse ladder but “usually” a 30 days ban is a 2nd offence. Are you sure you havent had a previous warning?
The Wayfarer program is based on the real-world location being correct. 66 meters away from the actual location is kind of the reason the ladder is in place. I don’t think anyone here is trying to treat you poorly. We are all simply trying to help. I don’t know how your disability would prevent you from selecting the correct spot on the map. If it does, please forgive me.
Looking at what has been presented, I think Niantic was correct to level a suspension.
Can you check if this is the actual location, based on the background of the fence/hedge in the supporting image?

I disagree with you, I don’t think a suspension should be warranted for this given the circumstance I and I would kindly ask that you not say something like that.
